annathepiperI HAVE PLAYED A SONG ON MY BOUZOUKI!
I did not lose the brace off my arm today, but they did cut a big piece of it off in order to improve my shoulder mobility, since my shoulder has been really stiff and sore thanks to being held to my side for six weeks. The break is not healed yet but it is starting to mesh together nicely and so the doctor felt just a cuff-sized brace on my arm was workable.
And it is ENOUGH TO LET ME PLAY. :~)
I picked up both my mandolin and my bouzouki, and was able to tune the first and hit a few chords on it, and able to stumble my way all the way through "Lukey" on the zouk. I think that oddly enough, playing the larger instrument was easier because the strumming motions are not as fine and focused and the muscles in my arm are better able to handle them.
But oh I could feel it... and I don't know if I want to risk more than one song at a time, or playing at proper GBS-type breakneck speed. For now, though, I HAVE PLAYED. And gods almighty I needed that.
