Some good things worth noting

kathrynt came by and picked me up from work yesterday and told me all about how she had had ulnar nerve damage in her arm and it had come back, as she drove me home. And once we got home she did massage things to my hand that felt WONDERFUL, and moreover, a couple of things which caused interesting reactions both on the opposite side of my arm and up in the area of the break... things which suggested to Q in her amateur opinion that my nerve might be trying to come back online.
1. Also last night,
mamishka,
spazzkat,
risu,
jiapa and I all hung out and ate nummy Indian food. And then Meems showed more of the "His and Her Circumstances" anime she's been hooked on. That was fun.
2. Rebecca has started actively enjoying watching MacGyver reruns with me, which pleases and amuses me. Paul says we're going to get mullet poisoning.
2a. Now that I actually know what a mullet is, it makes me giggle that MacGyver had one, and so does Dr. Drakken on Kim Possible. It would however be a hard call as to which of them could build a better robot.
3. All annoyance with the B&J center aside, I think my nerve IS working on waking up.
solarbird has told me that as she recovers from her surgery she is getting these brief sparks of pain in certain places, and afterwards she has sensation there. Well, while I was having a nap this evening, I had one of those on my hand, near the base of my thumb, in the area that's been just a little numb. And where the spark happened, now it's not numb anymore. There's a numb area still, but now it's smaller.
4. I came home tonight to find a big bouquet of flowers from Dar on the coffee table. :~) And only just a little while ago noticed the SECOND bouquet from
lyonesse. Thanks guys. :~)
5.
ssha and her mother came by to visit tonight, and that was good. Cyn's hair is shorter than mine now. And on Monday, she has surgery round 2. Meep. All things considered I am STILL glad I just had a simple break of my arm rather than a brain tumor.
6. The Claw has been a great conversation starter. Two guys in the hardware store this past Saturday, upon getting a load of the Claw, told me all about bike accidents they had suffered. One of them had compacted his arm by FOUR INCHES and now he has titanium in it. And another guy came up to me as I was getting off the bus a couple of mornings ago, and told me all about the injury he'd had where he had cut the tendons of his hand. He had to wear a Claw too.
6a. Let's hear it for my tendons not being cut! I need those!
7. I have now read the three Patricia Cornwell novels Q loaned me, and have decided that that author doesn't seem to do it for me. She's good and tells a fine story, but I think I just don't find my boat floated by her style of writing. The Greg Bear novel I've just started seems promising, though!

Geeky? Me?
Date: 2003-07-18 02:12 am (UTC)Oh, I love MacGuyver! In fact I had an Amber character losely based on MacGuyver for a while. She had a pattern-based Swiss Army knife. Way cool. :-)
