A couple of things in which I take a huge amount of pleasure!

For the sake of offsetting some of the gloom and doom I've had rolling around my Livejournal lately, here are two very good things in my life (and neither of them is the Great Big Sea show coming up in less than two weeks, though rest assured I am goofy with anticipation about THAT ;) ):

1. I am teaching my spouse how to play mandolin! We have been playing together, her on the little mandolin and me either on the octave mand or the bouzouki as whim dictates, so she can see me do the changes!
   
   
2. I have discovered that I am acquainted with an actual Newfoundlander! Fellow Great Big Sea fan, duh, but he and I have been exchanging happy musicgeeking mail and he promises to teach me more traditional Newfoundlander ditties. He also told me that it meant a lot to him to know that songs from Newfoundland are being played in Seattle. Awwww. ^_^
