Things which I have done over the last 48 hours:

  1. Gone out for bike riding with Dar for the sake of getting the hell out of the house and enjoying some of the sunshine. Dar originally suggested going to Lake Forest Park and having lunch, but I wanted to go to Fremont and go to Dusty Strings and see if they had any bouzoukis I could play with.

  2. Angsted, a LOT, over the fact that Dusty Strings did in fact have a LOVELY zouk for just under 400 dollars and I can't afford it because I don't have a stupid JOB. :(

  3. Worked on ripping the rest of my CD collection to my MP3 player, finally, which I had never gotten around to doing since that time I'd had to reformat the unit's hard drive.

  4. Acquired a new CD rack from Silver Platters, for the sake of reorganizing my CD collection, which had become sort of scattered around several different racks. This was something to do in parallel with ripping the CDs to the MP3 player.

  5. Also acquired DVD #4 of the Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman releases being done, and the first series of Red Dwarf on DVD as well. Which was good, because I needed some funny and some cheesy to watch while doing other things.

  6. Pulled a bunch of old logs for [livejournal.com profile] flashfire off of an old backup tape, though I still need to get another file for him, which sort of needs to wait until I'm done with--

  7. --pulling old backup files for Ben and Euphoria off of the same tape, since Euphoria had asked about a bunch of old photos she needed copies of. Though this is driving me batshit because I keep trying to burn chunks of data to disc and I keep getting weirdo "Virtual CD database error" messages that I don't understand. :P

  8. Wrestled with being angsty about not getting that job I interviewed for on Friday morning. Stupid xbox team. :P I'm not entirely certain why this one has hit me harder than others I haven't gotten lately... possibly because if I'd gotten this job I could have been assured of employment through September. Possibly also because I'm getting tense about my unemployment running out soon. And possibly just because it felt like it was a good interview, but damned if I know anymore.

  9. Posted stuff to the Two Moons MUSH timeline and fixed a bunch of broken links, both on my personal page and on the TM one.

  10. Sent out another couple of resumes.

  11. Had to tell the player of my character Faanshi's last love interest on AetherMUSH, who has been trying very hard to get me to come play on a sort of "sequel" MUSH that has opened up, that I really can't cope with playing Faanshi right now. Not when she was far and away my most angsty character and I've just got too much I'm depressed about in my life at the moment. Besides, it would be stupid to try to go play on another MUSH when I'm still exhausted with all the annoyances of having to ask people's permission to tell a story the way I want to tell it for a given character--especially when I have decided to put a version of that character into my own story. I think I'd probably be overburdening myself to try to be playing a version of Faanshi on a MUSH and writing about a version of her at the same time.

  12. Had two treadmill workouts because I desperately needed them to work off stress.

Still to do: must pay bills and balance the checkbooks and TRY TO WRITE GODDAMMIT. Or at least do more worldbuilding work.

Reasons Anna has been cool in the last 48 hours:

1. Her coolness is not diminished when spun around like a bike wheel. The importance of this rotational inertia in coolness cannot be overstated.

2. Both she and her music are pretty.

3. The RIAA has attempted to prevent distribution of Anna. However, cool elf Anna defiantly continues to appear on the Internet. Fight for the glorious cause!

4. She keeps her feet on the ends of her legs. No one else keeps Anna's feet on the end of their legs. Advantage: Anna.

5. It is generally assumed that the various houses of ninjas are engaged in a bidding war for the opportunity to train Anna in their secret arts. We cannot know this for sure because ninjas are invisible to the naked eye. Some allege that she has already received this training. This is the only possible explanation(*) for why sometimes one will look around and Anna will not be visible.

(*) Assuming that she is omnipresent.

6. She is very nice to her friends. And a generous spirit in general.

7. Anna in the modern day represents a natural continuation of the long tradition of Anna being cool. Note how, as you examine a succession of moments dating from her appearance, her coolness remains an invariably impressive monotonically increasing function of time.

8. She is brave and good.

9. And smart and capable.

10. She is extremely modest. Note that her resume does not specify the many times she nearly conquered the world, stopped only by those meddling kids and their distracting Crowe dance video. Nor does it include her honorary title as Goddess of Paris, New York.

11. It is commonly conceded in the circles of high society that Anna is the correct complement to any outfit, occasion, or haiku. c.f. the classic:

"It is not dawn til
Reflections in Anna's eyes
Give light to the sun."

What this has to do with point 11 above is unclear, save that 'Faanshi' sounds sort of like 'fashion'.

12. She is well loved, even while stressed.

Did you talk to them about trying to barter? Perhaps they need a webpage for their store? If they have one, perhaps it needs spruced up and an online database added. I'm just picking on your computer skills, perhaps there is something else that could be bartered for it?

I was talking to my sister.

They think they've picked out a girl's name for if their baby turns out to be my niece. Anna Elizabeth
