I just have to remark that despite the fact that he is now INSANE, Spike somehow manages to every so often be a remarkably well-dressed crazy vampire. Of course, I am probably the only Buffy fan on the planet who, upon observing him in that all-black outfit he had on last episode, immediately thought of Elvis in Girls Girls Girls -- since ol' El did have a penchant for wearing similar attire in his flicks. ;)

No, you made me laugh out loud, in fact. I'd noticed that Spike is a very well-dressed psycho vampire, but I hadn't made the Elvis connection, which I'm sure surprises you greatly.

I KNOW! And that dreamy expression he had on his face talking about what Dru used to see, and the way he ducked his head and mumbled that he could never ask for help... and was it my imagination, or did he go from combed and looking relatively coherent while hallucinating Gentle Buffy to looking all mussed and freaked out when the Stern Buffy showed up? And was Stern Buffy really her, or another hallucination? Eee!

I didn't notice the hair, but he did seem to be speaking more coherently in his hallucination than to the real Buffy. I think that we weren't seeing the real Spike talking to an imaginary Buffy so much as Spike's idea of what he wanted to be saying. An external observer would have seen a less coherent speech.

Yeah, that makes sense. He was much more poetic during the initial hallucination...

And I say initial since now I'm not entirely convinced that the second Buffy wasn't a hallucination either. Mimi and I were yakking about it some more, and she was having a hard time justifying Buffy just going down there to tell Spike he needed to get out of the basement, especially since there seemed to be no connection to her doing that and anything else that she did during the rest of the episode.

I could see it either way, maybe.

I think combing his hair is part of the 'costume', like the blue shirt was. Trying to hide from the voices, but they found him anyway. Poor Spike. O.O

It will be interesting to see whether more of his demon side will keep emerging. Last couple of episodes he's been comparatively gentle. And yes! Poor Spike! *sniffle*

Weirder still, since vamps are supposed to have bad (or at least obsolete) fashion sense. I seem to recall Buffy spotting one that way in an early episode.

*snicker* Ah, but if that were truly universally the case, Spike would still be running around with honey-blond curls and tweeds, and Angel would still be sporting his long dark Irish locks. Methinks that in that one particular instance, Buffy just happened to catch a vamp who dressed like a dork.

Besides, basic black is ALWAYS fashionable. ^_^

I put forth the theory that vamps who figure out how to dress fashionably are the ones who are more likely to survive. Much less obviously Slayer-bait. :)
