I hate major server upgrades, at least when I have to both a) compile stuff by hand AND b) upgrade a bunch of Debian packages -- the best of both worlds! Oh goody!

But it turned out to be kind of necessary today, given that they discovered that the Apache web server has a security hole in it, so tonight I'm trying to upgrade us from 1.3.9 clear up to 2.0.39. How's that for an upgrade, huh? And in addition, I got up at 9:20ish or so this morning so's I could help Dar pull nails and screws and stuff off the walls of Din... and I did my weekly resumes, and posted my unemployment claim... and I did laundry. I am a tired Anna.

But my friend Karsten from Two Moons gave me a rose in IM. A virtual rose, but well hey, it was a sweet gesture!

You go, girl! As upgrades go, there are far more annoying things to have to compile than Apache. I lost track of the number of times I built Apache on my old Linux system at work, but it usually worked. I never did get gd to build properly.

I found myself awake at a relatively early hour (9:30 AM, rather than noon) this morning as well. Secret LiveJournal gumption rays? (And now I'm wasting that time on the computer! Agh! Off to the gym!)

Of course, NOW I get up to discover that Debian has in fact issued a patch for their last stable package of Apache, but fuck 'em. They only go up to 1.3.9 on the stable tree, and after doing all this work to see if I can make 2.0.39 work, I'M NOT SWITCHING BACK!

Gotta make PHP work again now though. 'Cause my and Paul's web pages need it.

9:30am, huh? You missed me by about an hour and a half then. ;) And yay gym!
