Today, I received in the mail a package from Mary, which included a letter describing her seeing Great Big Sea at a mini-concert/book signing at a place called Newbury Comics in New Haven. She reports that there were 50-75 people there, and sends several loverly pictures...
And a copy of Sea of No Cares. Which, okay, granted, I had already, because DUH, new Great Big Sea record... but I DIDN'T have a copy AUTOGRAPHED BY ALL FOUR MEMBERS OF THE BAND!
I am massively amused that the only legible word in any of these signatures is, in fact, "Anna" courtesy of Mr. Bob Hallett. I can sort of pretend I see "Bob" in his signature, and "Alan" just looks kind of loopy though there is a recognizable A there; Séan's look like "Scam". Darrell Power, however, apparently uses NO ENGLISH CHARACTERS WHATSOEVER in the signing of his name. It looks like a big squiggle!
Mary informs me that she asked Bob if he would sign more than one CD and he deadpanned "Only one to a customer", but was obviously kidding, as he signed both of her CDs anyway. She describes Darrell as a "goof", and says that she tried to get Séan to get a picture taken with her but something he said apparently unnerved her, so she had to settle for having her picture taken with Alan. She has not yet given me permission to scan in said picture, but I'm here to tell ya, folks, it's a very pretty Alan indeed with my friend in this photo!
Who, I must also gushingly add, she claims told her to tell me "hi"!
