annathepiperSo, the guy's computer got here today, and I had a small coronary moment when I attached his screen to my computer, only to discover that his backlight was shot. No wonder he didn't have any video. There I was trying to figure out, okay fine, what now... when Paul up and observes that his screen has visible screws and mine doesn't. Thanks to Paul, we got the screens opened and swapped the hinges; mine was in pieces, but all my screen needed was his hinge in order to be able to function again.
Plus, I got his DVD-ROM drive working, even if the player software I installed ate a lot more of my already scant hard drive space. His hard drive reports "Operating system not found" when I boot it up, and since I can't seem to be able to hook up both hard drives at once to my box, and since Dar has taken down Scouter so I can't back up my data, upgrading the hard drive will have to wait till after the convention.
His power supply works on my box too, though! Apparently mine has a short in the cord or something; his, plugged into my box, seems nice and stable.
All around, a win!
