Doctor Who 9.03: Under the Lake

Dara and I watched the latest Doctor Who last night, and were pleased that it was a decent, solid story. The Doctor’s ongoing probationary status continues!

Was a bit surprised that we got a two-parter this early in the season–so if you haven’t seen the episode yet, be aware that yes, it’s a two-parter with a cliffhanger at the end.

Yeah two [same spoiler]-centric stories in a row did strike me as a bit odd.

But I thought the [spoiler] in the Magician's Apprentice/Witch's Familiar actually made sense, in that context, because of details of canon established in "The Arc of Infinity" (a Fifth Doctor story from 1983), especially considering who the Big Baddies were in that story.

And I've seen an interview with Moffat and his assoc. producer (name escapes me) that this entire series will be two-parters... Which, as a fan from before the Wilderness Years, when every story had cliffhangers, pleases me no end.
