Movie review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Gracious, that was highly satisfying!

I’ve heard rumors that in Germany the trailers for this movie have been playing it up as a Black Widow movie that just happens to also include Captain America. I’m really rather okay with that, because goddamn, Black Widow laid down her awesome all over this plot. Which is not to say that the Cap and Nick Fury weren’t also awesome–because they were.

And I gotta admit, although I bailed on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after episode 6, I’m intrigued enough by what this movie did to the overall universe that I’m thinking I’ll have to get caught up on the story. Five or six different people have already told me that GOD YES YOU NEED TO GET CAUGHT UP. So I’ll see what I can do about that.

for one brief shining moment I thought we were getting ass-kicking Jenny Agutter. I was so disappointed. Props to Natasha and stuff, but... it would've been weird and awesomely cool.

I KNOW RIGHT? I was TOTALLY about to be all impressed that the councilwoman was going to hand out some righteous asskicking--but then she turned out to be Natasha in disguise.

We just saw it yesterday - I loved it! I was really pleased with how they handled the Winter Soldier, ie they didn't change a thing from the comics, and I'm stoked that we're clearly going to see more of him ongoing after this film. I have so much love for the Winter Soldier storyline. Falcon is significantly different from the comics, but I didn't mind the changes.

It was a great showpiece for both Cap and Widow, and it was good to see Maria Hill getting more to do as well. Basically, I agree with every word you said :-)

I'm told that the place to start watching Agents of Shield is episode 15. Apparently, yes, it did take that long to become decent. We plan to hit it from there in the near future.
