annathepiper | Goodreads broke my RSS feed, oops!

My blog feeds into my Goodreads profile, but for some reason the last several posts didn’t come through. So I had to go in and change the feed to make it start working again! I know at least a couple of people read my posts via Goodreads, so HI GOODREADS PEOPLE! If you didn’t know already, lookit! I have a Kickstarter!

And apparently this has happened what with this week’s updates! 43 backers, 44 percent funded, $1,795 and holding! Still very good progress for the first week and I’m hoping we’ll crack 50 percent over the weekend. 😀

You can associate a blog with your Goodreads author profile. I grabbed the URL for my RSS feed off of angelakorrati.com and plugged it into said author profile.

As for your review, it's still coming, I swear, I just can't promise WHEN. I'm sadly behind on a LOT of reviews! And I can't promise anything until at least after the Kickstarter is done, 'cause right now every last scrap of word-writing mojo I have has GOT to go into the book. :)

You can't just use the blog's address? I'll have to figure out how to do the RSS feed thing, then.

The only reason I mentioned the review is because you told me a while back that it was good to remind you occasionally [g].

Re: the feed--I think it may depend on the site and whether or not Goodreads is clever enough to pick out the actual RSS link from it. I'm not a hundred percent sure Goodreads will do that. Also, I'm not sure the blog feed on Goodreads is even working right now anyway since it's not picking up my new posts! I flung the Goodreads people a question about it on Twitter but have not been advised as to whether there's a known bug.

But yeah, I fed it the RSS link for my Wordpress posts, and I got that just by clicking on the RSS icon on my front page.

I can't find where on the profile page to enter the RSS feed, unless I'm supposed to put it in the blank where you're supposed to enter your website, which doesn't make sense. I've looked through all of the tabs. I'd have thought it would be on the feeds tab, but there's no place to enter a URL there.

Help, pretty please?

Okay, first question--do you actually have an account on Goodreads? If not, then the step I've been using to update my blog data won't really be helpful to you. I've got not only a regular user account on the site, I've also got an author profile, and I edit stuff on there directly. You may wish to consider getting an author account on Goodreads as well so you can do the same. You're already listed in the system so you could claim the listed work for you as your own.

Meanwhile, if you want, I can add a blog feed for you to your existing data in the system. I also have librarian access on Goodreads, which means I have access to edit data in their database! So if you give me an RSS link for your blog I can plug that in.

I just applied for an author account. Thanks for the link that enabled me to do that. I'll wait and plug my RSS feed in myself. One question you might be able to answer for me, though. I have changed Repeating History's cover on Amazon and Smashwords -- do I need to change it manually on Goodreads, too? And if so, how do I do that?

Re: changing the cover--once you get an author profile set up on Goodreads, you SHOULD be able to click on an "edit details" link on your book and be able to go in and fix the cover photo. Otherwise it requires librarian access on the site to edit books. I can update the photo for you if you like, if you send me the graphic that you want used!
