Ongoing network weirdness at the Murknet

Folks, we're continuing to have intermittent outages at the Murk. While we can't quote this for definitive fact, we're pretty sure this has to do with how Verizon, our former telephone company, has sold all its resources in our area to another company, Frontier.

solarbird has repeatedly yelled at our ISP, Iinet, to try to get them beat on Verizon/Frontier in turn. They have to do it for us since Iinet is our ISP; we didn't go through Verizon directly for our Internet service. So far this doesn't seem to be getting very far and it's driving Dara and me spare.

Apologies to anyone who has resources on the Murknet impacted by this, and in particular to mamishka and our other tenants for whom we're providing net access. Dara and I are very irritated by this because of all these things, and also because both of our professional sites, angelakorrati.com and crimeandtheforcesofevil.com, are impacted too.

To wit: ARGH.

So for the time being if anybody out there needs to email me, it's best to do so at my gmail addresses, either annathepiper or angela.korrati. Either will work. Until this net wonkage clears up, I can't guarantee that mail sent to me at murkworks.net will get to me.

Have you talked with Iinet about switching from Verizon to Qwest? I have DSL through Qwest with Iinet, and it works great for me.

Qwest is our telco at MurkSouth, actually, and yeah, we found them infinitely better than Verizon service-wise.

But we can't get them at MurkNorth, last we knew. Seattle proper is covered by Qwest and Verizon/Frontier handles the areas around the north side of Lake Washington, which is where Kenmore is. When we moved up to this house we HAD to take on Verizon, we didn't have a choice in the matter. We would very much have preferred to stay with Qwest.
