So, tonight made some progress on de-stressing me. [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat being kind enough to spot me a six-pack of Mike's Hard Berry on the way home did quite a bit to help this. So did having a treadmill walk with my GBS 1 treadmill playlist--the one with all the Very Best GBS tracks from Rant and Roar and up. And there was Firefly waiting for me on the Tivo, so having me an hour of Captain Mal was very easy on the eyes.

Then [livejournal.com profile] mamishka came over, wearing a very cute Japanese-style black and white top, and bringing me two fluffy romances to borrow as well as three of my own books I'd loaned her some time ago. And we watched Battlestar Galactica, and lo, it was The Good. It was our mutual consensus that BSG this season is almost too intense to actually 'enjoy'--you almost more 'survive' it. We spent a lot of time during this episode exclaiming variations on "oh MAN" and "oh SHIT" and "Oh god, I see where this is going now".

Meanwhile, the Great Debian 3.1 Upgrade begins... )

And now, a cautionary tale about what happens when you're awake too long trying to upgrade your servers, as it was seen upon the MurkMUSH:

It's worse than that, I'm DEAD, JIM! )

And oh yeah:

Friday evening miles: 1.40
Adjustment from last weekend because of miscalculated distance to Kenmore Post Office: 0.5
Miles out of Hobbiton: 268.55
Miles to Rivendell: 189.45

So, I got lodestone upgraded this morning. A lot less annoying than upgrading newmoon, since nothing too critical got yanked without my asking for it, and the two major things that lodestone handles, the web server and the mysql server, are happy. However, those of you out there who either have web pages that live on lodestone or else visit web pages hosted on lodestone on a semi-regular basis, doublecheck to make sure they load properly if you could please. I want to make sure that I don't miss anything.

In the meantime, at the request of [livejournal.com profile] technoshaman and [livejournal.com profile] starsongky, I have tweaked the text color on the reply form when you leave a comment on my entries. Let me know if it's more readable now.

Also, something seems to have happened to fix the "Leave a comment" link problem, since now it's actually linking correctly to the Reply form for all entries. Yay!

Okay, I may be a little late to this particular bit of astronomical coolness; I do vaguely remember hearing rumblings about a 10th planet in our system some time ago, but as of today it's apparently been officially confirmed that we've got something bigger than Pluto circling around Sol, way the hell out there, and at a 45 degree angle off the rest of the planets in the system. Currently it's designated as "2003 UB313", which is in my humble opinion a sucky name--but apparently they don't get to give it a real name until the International Astronomical Union issues a ruling over whether this thing gets to be called a real planet.

Me, I'm hoping for a female touch to the Greco-Roman naming scheme we have going on in the system in general. Hecate would be a cool name for a 10th planet so far out there away from the sun. I would also take Persephone or Demeter (though [livejournal.com profile] risu very sensibly points out that the problem with naming it Persephone would be that six months later it'd careen inward to the heart of the system and probably smack into the Earth ;) ). Let's hear your naming suggestions for this 10th world, folks!
