I haven't written a word this weekend so far. Ordinarily I'd be annoyed about this, but I think that I actually needed the mental break. I've spent a good chunk of both this afternoon and yesterday afternoon just lying around snoozing, and not thinking of anything in particular. I was pretty stressed Friday night and yesterday, but just having my brain in neutral for a while seems to have made me feel rather better.

Instead, I've been reading. I went through a Dorothy Sayers anthology, In the Teeth of the Evidence, which turned out to have disappointingly little Lord Peter Wimsey in it. There were a couple of stories featuring him, and a couple featuring another recurring character of Sayers', Montague Egg; I didn't find him nearly so interesting. Some of the other stories in it were standalones, some of which had a decidedly paranormal turn, which was unexpected. And oddly Gothic. I've also started on Lord Peter Views the Body, another anthology, but this one at least seems to be all about Wimsey. Lots more satisfying, and Wimsey is in good form, even though I think I still prefer him in novels.

Friday night [livejournal.com profile] mamishka came over to join us for viewing "Valley of Darkness", the second Battlestar Galactica episode of this season (commentary on this later).

Yesterday was quiet; [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I walked down into downtown Kenmore, which I hadn't done before. We stopped by Corner Books, the other local bookstore. It reminded me a lot of [livejournal.com profile] lyricae's and [livejournal.com profile] tinlail's old store, mostly because the place was swimming in romance novels. I didn't buy anything, though Dara got a small paperback with some Native American folk tales of the Pacific Northwest. And last night, I watched Finding Neverland so's we could clear it off the Netflix queue; good movie, in a gentle, subtle kind of way. Mr. Depp was excellent as he has been in everything I've seen him in to date.

Today, also quiet; Dara and I walked down to the Farmer's Market and got nummy groceries and bubble bath and shave ice. And I snoozed on the couch quite a bit. And Meems has come over again tonight, for the taping and watching of BSG and Dead Zone. I've also tweaked my journal layout a bit; the only things I don't like about the Tranquility II layout are that a title that's too long wraps really weirdly, overlapping words on top of other words, and it also doesn't prettily handle tags. So I tweaked my journal width to 900px to fix the title problem, and scarfed a bit of tag code out of the public code for the Nebula layout. Plugging that into the proper place in the function for printing entries, and adding in a variable to make the layout tags-aware, got me what I wanted: tags prettily displayed up by the date and time rather than just stuck on the end of the entry.

Tomorrow, perhaps, I will have my words back.
