+0: Greetings to [livejournal.com profile] celandineb, latest person to stop by!

+1: Looks like our local paper likes Cinderella Man. Oh good!

+2: And speaking of The Crowe, both [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat and [livejournal.com profile] agrimony alerted me last night to his being on The Daily Show. Since we regularly Tivo that, I watched it. It was very odd seeing Jon Stewart seem awkward and almost intimidated. I mean, DAMN, I don't remember hearing him ever call ANY of his guests 'sir'. And for once he was really reaching for stuff to say--not only jokes, but just questions in general. He barely seemed able to come up with stuff to ask Russell about the movie. Russell got off a couple funny comments, and seemed to take it all in good humor, but still. Jon seemed to halfway believe his own crack at the beginning of the show about the 'biggest virility gap' they'd ever had between him and a guest.

I almost want to find Mr. Stewart, pat his shoulders, and tell him, "It's okay. He does that to me, too!" ;)

-3: My brain's been really balky for the last couple of days as I've tried to make it give me a longer version of the pitch for Lament, as well as more words for Chapter 12 in general. Grf. I may be trying too hard. I'll just have to see what I can come up with by Writer's Weekend next week!

+3.5: YAY, Writer's Weekend next week, at which I shall get to meet [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin, and at which I get to see [livejournal.com profile] dr_pretentious again! And hopefully meet [livejournal.com profile] alg and other fine folks!

So there I was on the 245, which is the bus that I catch near Microsoft to swing over to the Houghton Park & Ride. (For those of you who don't speak Puget Sound Area Transit, a Park & Ride is a bus station where the idea is supposed to be that you can leave your car or bike and then get onto the bus to go wherever you're going. There are Park & Rides scattered all over Seattle and the surrounding communities.) Out of general exhaustion, reaction to the muggy weather today, or what, I fell asleep. I woke up not recognizing where I was--and for a moment I was convinced that I was actually on the 342, which is the second bus I catch on my afternoon commute. Specifically, I thought I was on the 342 on the far side of my neighborhood and that I had missed my stop to get off and walk up the hill to my house.

I got a little more awake and realized I was in fact still on the 245, but my brain, still sluggishly not recognizing where I was, decided I had somehow missed the Park & Ride. So I staggered off the bus trying to figure out how to salvage this. Only AFTER I'd gotten off the bus did I realize that a woman who always catches the 245 at the same stop I do AND gets off at the Park & Ride was still on the bus--which meant of course that I hadn't missed my stop at all. But did I clue into this before I got off? No!

Stick with me, though, my story gets better.

More bus misadventures... )
