This should have been posted yesterday, but such is the inevitable consequence of being on dial-up for one's Internet access at the moment and sharing it with two other people, not to mention being out and away from the computer for most of the day. A great deal of this out-and-away-ness had to do with going to get the stitches out of my neck--and going over the pathology report about the extracted lump with my doctor.

First and foremost: it wasn't cancer.

There are a great many things it might have been--an alien parasite, or perhaps the product of [livejournal.com profile] smeehrrr's theorized spontaneously developing Russell-Crowe-mind-controlling hormones in my system--but hey. It wasn't cancer.

And I'm good with that.

Yesterday was almost... normal, really, just a matter of getting up and Dealing With Things. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't necessarily have thought twice about everything I did, but the circumstances have been so abnormal as of late that it was almost a relief and a blessing to be able to be able to just have things and be able to more or less deal with them.

#1: Stitches out! No cancer! And, how to treat the scar. )

#2: The U-Village; the new Elfquest book and other books bought! )

#3: Me to MurkSouth, Dara off to downtown, but one of my books is ruined. Sigh. )

After all of that, we didn't get back to MurkNorth until 8pm or so in the evening. Dara made dinner--and I'd had some thought about how I'd pay some bills and get a few other things done, but I wound up mostly just curling up on the bed reading. I also thought about watching more of the second season of The X-Files on the DVD player that [livejournal.com profile] mamishka has kindly loaned me, but the unit is making disturbing noises about the last disc it was playing, and not loading it. I am concerned that it might have damaged the disc, because day before yesterday, it was playing just fine. Sigh.

Now, it's Thursday morning and [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat is on the way over, having kindly offered to give me a ride to the dentist so I don't have to face driving there on my still uncertain strength. I shall treat him to lunch. And sign off, for now. More later.

This probably already got posted by my beloved, but the giggle of posting it here is worth it to me. Yesterday while [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I were having lunch at World Wrapps, Dara happened to get a bento tray. Her fortune cookie read as follows:

"Generosity and perfection are your assets--and they show."

Dara remarked to me that she thought her assets could be a little more generous. I sallied back that I'd been about to ask her which one was Generosity, and which was Perfection.

The GBS mailing list informs its readers that the B'ys will be touring Canada this fall to celebrate their current album--but it mentions further down that the band plans to take an extended break in 2005. Hrmm. Hrmm.

This news makes the idea of going to the October 1st show in Vancouver very, very tempting. I shall have to mull this, and quickly. Especially if I am going to have to suffer a Newfoundlander shortage next year! Even the eagerly anticipated all-trad next GBS album might not be enough to tide me over if I have to go without a concert.

As I mentioned in my last long post, I just bought The Searcher and the Sword, the newly released full-color, hardbound graphic novel by Wendy and Richard Pini. This is the first new Elfquest material we've had in years, and while I was initially reluctant to fork over twenty-five bucks for it, I am now glad that I did now that I've gotten it and read it.

I'd already read some good commentary over the EQUEST-L mailing list, and gotten a good spoiler-free review from a friend. For those of y'all on my Friends list who are EQ fans, especially those of you who are Two Moons MUSH players, here now is my extended commentary. I'll split it up into spoiler-free and spoiler blocks, because some of what I have to say about the book includes spoilers--but stuff which will be of potential interest and impact on game play on Two Moons MUSH. (Pending, of course, any staff decisions on the matters in question.)

Picoreview: Not bad at all, and while it's not spectacularly good, it definitely entertained me all the way through and gave me interesting matters to mull, not only for what may come in future EQ, but for the future of Two Moons MUSH as well. It's still rolling around in my brain even after I read it, which tells me that there's enough there to make me milk a lot of entertainment out of it. So! Go buy it, folks.
