Only 159 words tonight--but I had a really good excuse this time. [livejournal.com profile] risu, [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I watched Casablanca, since I couldn't remember ever having seen it before and Rebecca hadn't seen it at all. Damn good movie, that. And I think this is only the 2nd film I've ever seen of Humphrey Bogart's. It was very odd and very amusing, too, to finally hear all of the classic lines in their original context; amusing, too, was Dara's remark that the film is not in fact a period piece.

But in further writing news, I'm not entirely comfy with how Chapter 3 is going, and I may have to review what I've got. I'm seeming to have a problem of doing too much tell and not enough show for the information I want to relay, so I may need to delve into a day or two of reviewing what I've already written in the chapter. That'll be this weekend, though.

For now, bed.

Over 3,500 gay marriages and, what, no hellfire? I was promised hellfire. And riots. What gives?

So several days ago, [livejournal.com profile] chrysoula made [livejournal.com profile] risu a birthday cake, and OH MY GOD it is the most addictive cake I have ever had the pleasure to sample in many years. Strawberry and vanilla lusciousness all rolled up together into a pink and white confection, complete with chunks of actual strawberries. BLISS.

Soula, I salute you. Thank you for sharing this delicious treat with Rebecca and with the Murk by extension. ^_^

So, like, [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I are actually going to get a tax refund this year--shock of it all. This is a direct result of having had so HUGE a pile of medical bills last year that we had absolutely no taxable income. This means, accordingly, that I may well be finally able to get a more current handheld device that I can carry around in my backpack and use for writing purposes. What I need from y'all out there: recommendations on what to get.

What I want:

1) Something with its own keyboard. It should either be a clamshell-style device, or else it should have a keyboard you can get to by sliding a cover down off the device, or pulling it open, or some such. I don't want to have to carry around a keyboard that's way bigger than the actual device is.

2) Something with an OS on it that'll come with some sort of app that'll let me save out files in a format that I can then load into Microsoft Word on my laptop, with (ideally) no or (less ideally, but I'll deal with it) minimal reformatting. Since I am writing in an actual word processor these days, I need to be able to run something on this hypothetical handheld that'll save out into a format that Word can talk to. This should probably therefore either be a Pocket PC type frob, or else a Linux type frob that runs something that can save out into (I dunno? I am unfamiliar with what sorts of word processors Linux frobs might run) RTF format.

3) Color.

4) Good battery life.

Let me know your thoughts, people!
