Tri-lingual Hobbit re-read: Chapter 9

Well, Chapter 8 was pretty exciting with all the Bilbo being heroic and OHNOEZ SPIDERS and YAY STING and OHNOEZ THORIN and stuff.

Now, though, we get daring barrel-based escapes from cranky elves! (Because I’m kind of with Thranduil on this; if my house was infested with dwarves I’d be a bit cranky too. Unless the dwarves look like Kili. Then I’m down that. Still, though, those short hairy guys DO put a dent in the beer stash, don’t they?)

Onward to Chapter 9, “Barrels out of Bond”!

Can't repro on Safari on my iPad either. I was going to ask what browser you were using!

Out of curiosity, if you look at the version of my post over on Dreamwidth, does the same thing happen?

Interesting. So whatever this is is LJ-specific, and possibly only impacting a subset of LJ servers. (Since I wasn't impacted.)

Actually, I just remembered that I had been using the lj app, instead of going through safari. When I tried the link through safari, I had no problem going to the correct page. So it may be lj app specific instead of internet provider.

Okay, now we're getting somewhere. :)

I can repro this on my LJ app on my iPad. It is worth noting that the problem occurs ONLY on the 'Read the rest of this entry' link. It does NOT repro on the 'angelahighland.com' link.

The difference between them is that the 'Read' link has an anchor at the end of it--it takes you directly to the 'More' cut on the post. The 'angelahighland.com' mirror link goes to the top of the post.

It sounds like maybe the LJ app isn't handling the structure of that link well for some reason. I'll have to poke at it further and see if I can nail down why. Though if it's an issue specific to the LJ app, I won't bet that LJ will fix it any time soon. They still haven't fixed the last bug I reported to them. :|
