I’ve been whinging about this on Twitter and Facebook all day, and now that I’m home, it’s the blog and Livejournal and Dreamwidth’s turn!

My beloved B’ys have NOT yet announced the finalists for their karaoke video contest. And given that they’re playing in Toronto tonight, and that they ALSO have shows tomorrow and Sunday evening in different places, chances are high that we won’t hear a peep out of them until Monday.

OKP admin Aaron posted this morning with the news, which drove home for all of us waiting the following critical bits of information:

1. The band has been very busy, so they’ve been delayed in choosing finalists,
2. The voting period would be extended to make up for the delay, and
3. Yes, the band members are in fact choosing the finalists.

Y’all know what this means, of course.

It means Alan Doyle, Séan McCann, Bob Hallett, Kris MacFarlane, or Murray Foster, and possibly some or all of the above, have heard me sing.

And I do not yet know if they’ll be picking my group’s video for the finals! AUGH! AUGH! AUGH!

To be fair, if you've sung at a show, they've heard you sing before, but I know what you mean.

Real big difference between hearing me sing as one of a crowd of several hundred all roaring at them at the top of their lungs... and hearing me sing lead on one of their songs, with my voice very clear, and also screwing up some of the high notes. *^_^*;;

I once made an (unsolicited) fan tape of multiple songs of a band I liked with my best friend at the time, with lyrics changed to reflect the glory of the majestic tapir, and gave it to the lead singer at a show with a homemade stuffed tapir. We were not professional singers and had no real instruments or equipment. We did have a friend who was semi-professionally trained do guest vocals; he literally phoned in his song (and sounded better than our not-over-the-phone stuff).

I have NO IDEA what happened with all of this. They were weird enough that I did wonder if some day some part of this whole project would appear as some kind of sample on some kind of something but I haven't heard it since. I do not tell this story often so appreciate that I DID NOT DIE and you won't either!

Oh god yes, in the corner of my brain where the characters live, the entire cast of Lament is urgently waiting for word on that manuscript, while Christopher is all 'but, but, but, GREAT BIG SEA!' ;)
