Hey, Lament beta readers?
Jul. 12th, 2009 06:12 pmI haven’t heard anything out of anyone besides
eveshka, so if any of you all have anything to say to me about the novel, do please let me know tonight if possible. If you don’t have anything you think is a shipstopper, I want to get the thing sent off to Ms. Fox tomorrow!
Thanks again for all your help, folks. It is very, very much appreciated!

Date: 2009-07-13 02:25 am (UTC)Didn't expect you back until later tonight, so, did not answer earlier.
Read, enjoyed, looked really hard and did not find any of the reported three typos (sorry, am sheepish about that!), and think -- on the basis of this reading -- that you have a winner in hand, here.
Thanks, was great and easy fun to read!

Date: 2009-07-13 09:47 am (UTC)i had them all in a pretty little spreadsheat (no, really, it was 20 lines, 22 at WORST. and one of those is something i think *MY* comuter changed on you)
and i mailed to you the spreadsheet and my comments (which were mostly WHOOTINESS because i don't know why you were really worry. there were a few transitions that were a little less than smooth, but it looks like they aren't *supposed* to be smooth)
and i got it bounce-back, and it corropted the XCell files :( should only take a day for me to fix
BUT!
there was nothing that would't be caught in the editorial phase.
the because itself is awesome. i think it holds together really well - i think i can recognize a few areas where you cut, but iwas LOOKING for them - others, not looking, sould be fine
( i really hope i am making sense, because nt only pain meds but sleep meds - i couldn't name a character right now, stupid fcking meds :( _
so - short, i can probably re-do the minor spreadsheet tomorrow if you want (or don't if you dom't) but that story is *tight* uver-all (not in a eubonsics sense of tight, i mean the story is right. well put tpgether. sold)
i'm gonna shut up now cuz i make no sense. but can you please PM or resend you email addy, because i said somehow it bounced and the nouncing corrupted it and i would like to send to to you fixed and all :) take me maybe a day (i sent it friday - was going to be thrsday but best friend is being stalked by the not-quite-yet-ex-husband, so i had to help her before i finished :( i very sorry!

Date: 2009-07-13 04:13 pm (UTC)so erm... i think what i am saying is: don't wait. there A) were only a very very few and B) almost definiately will have been or be found by someone else and C) may not be, in some cases, better, or you or your editor will probably *find* better - if i can get it back up and to you, yay! if not well, boo my computer. i have to tell - i am so in love with your short story i am breaking my rule and am going to re-read it again as soon as i finish "Mother of Believers" i normal wait at least 6 months for a reread, but i HAS TOO!
anyway... oh, hey look, Word is at11%. sigh.

Date: 2009-07-14 06:55 am (UTC)And yeah, I've gone and sent out the manuscript to Ms. Fox today. I had a couple other folks check in with me and give me a thumbs up, so I decided to go ahead and do that!
Thanks for taking a look, though! And there'll be more beta reading opportunities in the next month or so. :)

Date: 2009-07-14 09:43 am (UTC)(i had to reload my OS! i has zero clue what the hell happened. that is why i am just now back online :( on the other hand, reloading brought back page 459+ ... they disappeared before i could read them, and i didn't realize that they were missing, and i think it will make more sense with the *actual* end. stupid viruses, making weird things happen *grumble*) the little spread sheet i made is 20 lines of gibberish, and one line "i love the names, do they have meanings?" sigh. actually, it said "names, love, mean?" because a reboot means that complete sentences are unavailable? i dunno - computers are weird...)
i canNOT wait until i has the money to BUY Faerie, and this (i want to buy it! also want to buy it in paper form, if it gets there, please!)
anyway... i am starting the re-read tomorrow, but it's just for me, because i was reading very fast the first time, and i want to slow down and catch everything i missed (and more Julian, for some reason...)

Date: 2009-07-15 02:26 pm (UTC)Aheh. More seriously, sorry about your computer woes, but again, no worries; re-read at your leisure! And thanks again for your interest in buying Faerie Blood too; no worries either about your financial obligations keeping you from it. It's not going anywhere!
The print version probably won't be around at least until late next year so there's plenty of time for that too.
