DW just threw me two more codes, and meanwhile, my friend
cow has a whole mess of 'em. So if anybody needs a code, sing out. First two to sing out can have mine, further parties, I'll point you at
cow.
ETA 2:45pm:
thunderpigeon just took code #1, I have one left!

Date: 2009-06-17 10:15 pm (UTC)So is Dreamwidth any different from any other blog site?

Date: 2009-06-17 10:41 pm (UTC)Dreamwidth is primarily an offshoot of Livejournal but has done extensive work customizing the default LJ code to do several unique things. For example, you can mirror posts from Dreamwidth out to LJ or other LJ-type sites. Also, they've done some work to separate the idea of your "Friends list" into the concepts of "whose journals you're reading" and "who gets to have access to your locked stuff".
And, they're real big on OpenID, so that even if you don't have an actual full DW account, you can subscribe at the OpenID level to locked DW content.
So for example, if I didn't already have a DW account, I could subscribe to your locked stuff with the OpenID annathepiper.livejournal.com and you could still add me to your filters and stuff.
DW is still in beta but I found several of their code changes interesting enough to keep half an eye on 'em. Right now though I'm just mirroring content to there.
