It's been forever, and I appologize for that. You are wonderful and I miss having our banter :) I am so freakin proud of you!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to hold a copy in my hands :)
This will be an electronic release at first, although later there is supposed to be a print version. When that will be is not yet set. So it'll be a bit before anybody can actually hold a physical copy!
I do hope for a print version, though. My favorite book reading time remains when I go to bed, or when travelling by train (which has been a while ago).
Amazon seemed perfectly willing to let me ship a Spock Barbie off their site to a Norway address (hi janne!), so I bet they'll be willing to send you a Kindle. ;)
Though that said? HOLY COW they're expensive for a device that does just one thing! Which is the primary reason I haven't scarfed one either.
Not enough things that it would be worth my time and money to invest in one, I fear. I want to reduce the number of devices I have to carry around, not increase them. I'm already carrying around three!
"Spock Barbie"?? This brought on some rather disturbing images of dolls of cross-dressing Vulcans. :)
Anyway, this is electronic equipment, and that's different. It's not sold from Amazon UK, and from Amazon US I get the message: "We are not able to ship this item to your default shipping address." Not that it really matters, because as you said, I really think the price is way too high anyway. Also, I suppose there must be a battery charger which would be unusable with our sockets and voltage.
I wonder if it would be possible to get my own copy printed and bound from the e-book anywhere, or if that, too, would be ridiculously expensive. I guess the alternative would have to be a big stack of A4 sheets from my own printer.
Hee, yeah, the Barbie people did a few custom Trek dolls in honor of the new movie. In exchange for sending me Morten Harket's last couple of albums and the a-ha album coming out next month, janne asked me to send her the Spock doll. :)
Ah okay so no shipping of the Kindle to Norway then. cafiorello points out that even if you could get one there the wireless downloads of books might be a problem.
And yeah, if you're feeling ambitious you could always print the book out. The PDF should be laid out to work for that.
And the book will be available on the Kindle, although it'll possibly take a bit to actually show up on Amazon even though it should be going up on the Drollerie site tonight or tomorrow! ;)
No, not the made-up kind. The slightly larger answer is, Dara's family history is complicated and she doesn't know who her parents were. We've been researching the name's origins but haven't been able to come up with anything definitive; the closest we've come is potentially Hungary or Finland. We've found references on Google to similar names from Finland, and a dude from Hungary once told us he knew people of that name there.
The name is pronounced "Korr-uh-TEE", accent on the last syllable, roll the R's.
Expect that this will come up a lot more now that you've got the name on the cover of a book. I wonder if this would in fact help you to find out. Imagine if, between scores of emails asking you where your name comes from, you'd get one from another Korra'ti asking if you're a relative? :)
Believe me, it comes up plenty often as it is! Enough that I wound up putting it into a FAQ on the first version of my web page, and I'll probably be putting it up on the angelakorrati.com site too.
I'll be real surprised though if anyone else with that name actually buys the book. ;)

Livejournal ate my exclamation point. :)
Date: 2009-05-24 06:00 pm (UTC)Obligatory dumb question: what variety of surname is "Korra'ti"?
Re: Livejournal ate my exclamation point. :)
Date: 2009-05-25 01:22 am (UTC)Heh, yes, Dara and I get that a lot. The short answer is, "we don't know."
