Norwescon, rest of Day 2 and Day 3
Apr. 12th, 2009 03:26 pmSo after the Masquerade last night I wound up doing very little except having the one drink in the bar and then beating up on Chapter 19 of Lament of the Dove for a while; this is what I get for being an introvert with the fourth draft of a book that's been taking too damn long to claw its way out of my brain.
But! Today has been reasonably low-key and has involved very little besides packing the car,
mamishka and I going to movie previews, and
solarbird and I going to the Trouble Clef Jam at 2, which was fun.
vixyish and
tfabris were running that, and
s00j was in attendance as well, and I was at least relieved that I didn't sound too crappy in comparison with either Tony or Sooj on their guitars. I sang "Goin' Up", in A, and actually managed to stagger my way through it even though Rags sounded like he'd fallen a bit out of tune.
Most notable for songs done in the Jam though were "House of the Rising Sun" (done upbeat by Sooj's demand), and Sooj doing "Taglio" (which I found notable because I actually started finding chords for it, once I noted that she capoed up two and I could see where she and Tony were putting their fingers). Dara tried to lead everybody in "Pirate Bill and Squidly" and it was kind of fun that half the room wound up congregrating around her chords. I thought of doing "Elf Glade" but specifically avoided it because it's not easy to play along with.
Really, though, I got the biggest giggle once the jam was actually over and I was suddenly stricken with the urge to try to figure out the chords to the Bad Horse Chorus. Which I actually have mostly done. Y'all have been warned.
(Particularly
sutures1, whom Meems and I bumped into, and who needs to come back to Jam now. ;) )
Dara wants to go to Onions and Roses and to Closing Ceremonies, but me, I think I'll be content to hang out in the lobby and people watch for a bit and see if anybody amusing walks by. And we'll see if I can beat up on Chapter 19 some more.
