This doesn't count as a full book log post because I am exempting all Drollerie Press novels from full review on my part; it would seem sort of conflict-of-interest-y, after all. However, I do have quite a few of them and am making a sweep through getting them all read this month. Although I won't do full reviews, I will however do a bit of a plug about each work that I hope will encourage you to go check it out for yourself. This one's for Closing Arguments by Sarah Avery, a.k.a.
dr_pretentious.
Sarah's written a tight and often funny little novella here, introducing the members of Rugosa Coven by way of the deaths of the parents of Bob Baines, one of its members. Bob's just trying to lead as normal a life as he can while being the husband of a Presbyterian wife and raising three kids in a multi-religion household. But his parents aren't just dead--they've died of simultaneous heart attacks, after being pushed into a frenzy of mysterious acquisition. And they aren't the only ones; other members of their coven have begun to show the same hoarding behaviors. Plus, bonus points for OHNOEZ HAUNTED POST-IT NOTES!
If you're up for checking out a very inexpensive ebook, you can't go wrong with this one.
