Skinny White Chick needs your help

Several of you reading this will know about this news already, but for those of you who haven't, folk/filk singer S.J. Tucker, a.k.a. s00j, a.k.a. Skinny White Chick, has been in the hospital and is facing mighty medical bills. She and her partner have no medical insurance, so they're asking folks to please spread the word that now would be a very, very good time to buy her CDs.

I've got a few of her CDs already and will be buying the rest. I've had the pleasure of seeing Sooj perform a few times, both in her persona of Skinny White Chick and as 1/3 of Tricky Pixie. She's a fabulous guitarist and a charismatic singer, and I quite recommend her. If by chance you're a fan of the writing of Catherynne Valente, as well, note that Sooj has a couple of albums of songs written to go along with her Orphan's Tales books.

To this I will add that Sooj's work is available for purchase on iTunes (as iTunes Plus albums, specifically, which means no DRM) as well as on the Amazon MP3 Downloads store.

Sirens is good, and even though I haven't read the Valente books yet, I do quite like For the Girl in the Garden. Those are the two I've already got; I've bought the rest as of today.

*nods* I've been wanting something new for a while - Fortune's Favour and Courage, Patience & Grit have been in heavy rotation to keep me sane re: school stress, to the point of I'm temporarily sick of them. So I make my ears happy and do some good at the same time. Sounds like a win-win to me :)

hm, now I have to figure out what's wrong with my download of Blessings. It downloaded fine, tells me there's 10 songs in it, but will only extract the first six.

ETA, 3:45pm: If I use my *other* zip extraction program, it's fine. Weird.
