There's little that giant snake movies can't improve

It was very good to be at home for the sleeping overnight, that's for sure. Today though has mostly involved more sleeping, and feeling oogy. Let's just say that 1) my system documentedly has a hard time coming out of lengthy, heavy anesthesia and this procedure has not been an exception to that, and 2) there's some extremely annoying monthly timing going on too. Do the math, and I'm sure you can get an idea of the physical discomfort I'm in at the moment.

But I don't really want to talk about that. What I do want to talk about is that spazzkat caught the old Disney movie make of Escape to Witch Mountain, which is charming, and which I watched all the way through. I still vividly remember the book. Now I want another copy of it. I remember quite wishing I had a star case like Tia's.

Also, looking up Escape to Witch Mountain on Wikipedia, I see that there's apparently a sequel called Race to Witch Mountain in progress for release next year. I'm not sure what I think about that!

Oh god. Especially given that The Rock is in it. Oh well, maybe it won't suck too hard?

Meanwhile, speaking of things that documentedly suck, there will be another Great Movie Suckoff Marathon commencing during my recovery time--in fact, as soon as the Seahawks game solarbird's watching is over. This one will feature giant snakes. LOTS of giant snakes. Especially Anaconda 3, which has the extra bonus feature of DAVID HASSELHOFF, baby.

This is going to be fun.

Ummm, there already is a sequel to Escape to Witch Mountain. It's called Return from Witch Mountain (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078158/) and it is GOD awful. I still have a soft spot in my heart for Escape though. One of my childhood favorites along with The MoonSpinners (yes, based on the Mary Stewart novel of the same title - I think this is where my fascination with wounded heroes came from >;-) )

I think it is very very weird that they are coming out with a new Witch Mountain movie now. Hummina-wha??

Oh! Race is a remake, not a sequel. That makes more sense. ;-)

I'm actually not sure if they're aiming for remake or sequel with Race... Wikipedia claims the events in this movie are thirty years after Escape, which would seem to indicate sequel, but other descriptions suggest a remake!

Also, I noted that they're having the guy who played the boy Tony in Escape showing up for a bit part in this.

Yeah, I'm aware of Return from Witch Mountain--this is a newer sequel than that. ;) Apparently at least Return was in theory connected with a book; I looked up the author that did the original book of Escape and he has that title on his bibliography list. Also, there was at least one remake of Escape, according to Wikipedia.

You mentioned The Moonspinners, yeah! I'm half-curious about watching that at some point. And yes please do check in with me tomorrow!

Moonspinners has a pretty good cast, actually. Hayley Mills (the original Parent Trap girl), Eli Wallach (Good, the Bad, and the Ugly), Irene Papas. I can bring out with me if you like. :-)
