kathrynt just gave me the heads up that Dennis Kucinich is reading articles of impeachment against Bush live, on C-Span, this very minute.

We just tuned in at the Murk. And we're all whomperjawed. Wow. And here we thought Congress was going to not bother with this since there's so little of Bush's term left. Who knew the Dems had a stealth impeachment campaign underway?

Anybody see any news articles on this out there yet? I'm scouring my usual sources, but no sign of any breaking news yet.

ETA 6:20pm: Ah, this may well have triggered this: Scott McClellan has agreed to testify in the Valerie Plame CIA leak case. And apparently he's told Keith Olbermann on his show to his face that he'll testify that Kucinich's articles are true.

ETA 6:42pm: Yahoo's news site now has the first AP Wire report I've been able to find. I expect this will show up on other major news feeds with similar content before we get more substantial articles.

ETA 7:34pm: Links from mistwolf and grian_ruadh: DailyKOS is liveblogging the matter here and here.

ETA 8:05pm: Up to Article 30 in the reading, and the news is finally starting to make its way around the Net. News.google.com has the first few articles showing up here.

ETA 9:17pm: And, now that we've gotten to the House adjourning for the evening, time to see how this hits all the news sites tonight and tomorrow morning.

I suspect they had to wait until, with all the requisite proceedings, it wouldn't foreshorten his term, or they'd have A) landed us up with Cheney and/or B) prompted him to bomb Iran, declare martial law, and forestall the election. I wonder if this is the one my guy Capuano said he'd cosponsored after I razzed him for backing out on HR 333 (to impeach Cheney).

Geez. A boy looks away for a moment and when he turns back the Dems have actually grown a pair.

As expected though, the MSM is ignoring it completely. The most recent article on MSNBC from a search on "kucinich impeach" is from last year. The same search on Google brings up one tiny AP release (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iE21FOVAfMfEbAE5LDwiYm8fGh4QD916SHJ01).

I sure do miss the America they promised me back in kindergarten (the same year that JFK was killed).

Fewer of them have grown a pair than I would wish. So far it's just Kucinich and one single co-sponsor, from what I've been able to see poking around for news today. Dara and I are both quite frustrated that the mainstream media is ignoring this--though I suppose it's because the Dems at large aren't supporting this effort, so it's "not news", or something. Meh.
