New GBS single available to listen to!

"Walk On the Moon", the first single from the forthcoming album Fortune's Favor, is now available to listen to up on greatbigsea.com! Just scamper up there and look over on the right part of the page--they've got an embedded player there that you can launch to play the song.

Having listened to it, I can now say with assurance that I'm more sold on this being the lead single for the album. It's got BELLS! <3 And ooh, very nice full harmony on the choruses. As I was suspecting, the studio version gives the song a bit more weight than the YouTube video of a live performance of the song that raise_a_jar linked to in my earlier post.

It's a great song! I'm not so hot on the way it came out, though - it's waaaay slick (I agree with whoever said it sounds like a Disney theme) and Alan sounds like he's really pushing painfully. Maybe I just fell for the more contemplative, hesitant feel of the acoustic version. It's a song about not being sure, and ripping it out like an anthem doesn't seem to do it justice. I still really like it, though! I hope that it's just doing the accessibility work that one expects of a single, providing AOR cover as it were.

Huh, he didn't sound like he was pushing it to me at all. I'll have to listen to it a few more times. Well, not like I wasn't going to anyway. ;)

And I don't have a problem with the upbeat take of the song--sure, it seems to be about being unsure, but it's also about getting over that, as near as I can tell. Which makes the triumphant flavor of the take appropriate IMO. :)
