Hey, did I tell you about the "write to the producers and let them know how much you love Blood Ties" thing? Or am I imagining things?

You didn't! I wasn't aware there was a thing for Blood Ties going on.

Of course, I'm not sure I'd use it, honestly. The last few episodes didn't impress me very much, though I do plan to give it a few more episodes' worth of a chance before I bail on it entirely.

The only played half of the 22 episodes before "hiatus". Lifetime plans on calling the second half of the first season the "second" season, and I guess the "thank you to the producers" thing was to get them to grant an actual second season.

I knew about the hiatus, yeah. That's part of why I'm still going to tune in--I want to see if things get more interesting again as they close in on the tail end of the season.

I hate that whole "huge hiatus in the middle of a season" thing. All TV shows need to stop that, RIGHT NOW. Yes, BSG, I am looking in YOUR DIRECTION.

It's an American cable thing. Up in Canada, they're already six episodes into the "second season" (ie the second half of the first season). Sci-Fi did the same thing with Stargate. We had to wait months upon months (I think from July until March) to see the second half of season 10, while they were already showing the eps up in Canada. Same with Stargate: Atlantis. Screw you, Sci-Fi.

It's not just cable. Lost is a show on a major network and they were doing it, too. But apparently fan outcry was enough that in the last seasons that lead up to the end point of the plot, they'll do solid uninterrupted blocks of episodes.

Come to think of it, Fox has pulled the same thing with... well, ODDLY ENOUGH, shows that got CANCELLED because of the "hiatus", as well as NBC pulling this with "Scrubs" last season.

Quite. It makes me kind of glad I actually don't watch much TV anymore. It's much more leisurely to watch things on DVD. :)

He was working on the ultimate book. I hope like hell he left good notes. I mean, condolences to the family, very sorry for your loss, great man gone too soon, etc. etc. etc., but I have a lot invested in this damn series.

Are there any writing-inclined relations who could take up any excellent notes and cobble together a book out of them?

He apparently dictated extensive notes and outlines and told at least one family member how it all ended. It appears the final book will be written at some point, but I don't know by who, and nobody knows quite when.

I hope they won't feel like they have to hurry up and get it done. I mean, they need time to deal with what just happened and all.

That said, I'm glad he left good notes. That should help give the fans closure--assuming whoever takes on the task does a good job. But hey, if Christopher Tolkien can put out The Children of Hurin, I'm sure one of his relations can do this. :)

Sorry to hear he passed. In a way, glad his suffering is over.
In a way, kinda glad there isn't an additional dry Wheel of Time book...

Oh, did you know that Dresden Files was NOT renewed for SciFi?

I was indeed aware of the failure of Dresden renewal. Sniff. Not terribly surprised by it, though.

Eh well, Jim's books are still alive and kicking, so it ain't like we'll have no more Harry in our lives. :)

Damn...I missed this news :( Yeah, not surprised, but definitely disappointed. Harry was fun! Oh, well...less television to try and remember to watch, I guess.

Yeah, and it was just getting its feet under it, too.

Though I admit I can do with less TV to keep track of. More brain left over to keep tabs on Lost and BSG and Doctor Who! ;)
