Birthdays and robots and Doctors and gods
Jul. 8th, 2007 11:13 pmIt's been a busy weekend indeed. Friday night was a big ol' birthday gathering at B&O Espresso for
jessicac, which was very pleasant all around and involved lots of tasty cake and shakes and other goodies. There was much made of Jessica, many gifts given, and quite a bit of admiring of both small babies present (although one-year-old Moira was Not Amused when Mommy got a flowered straw hat and tried to put the small matching baby version on her).
Saturday afternoon was
solarbird,
spazzkat,
mamishka, and I all going to see the Transformers flick. I have no childhood invested in the Transformers, so I wasn't blown away like a lot of folks were, though I can definitely see why those who have been in the fandom would like this film very much. Me, I enjoyed that lad Shia LaBeouf quite a bit, and Giant Robots Beating the Crap Out of Each Other? Very, very cool. Less of Hugo Weaving as Megatron than I would have liked, and when he did have lines it was generally kind of hard to actually hear Weaving's voice--but there were a couple of places where I caught echos of the Agent Smith Voice, and then I went "there he is!"
Saturday night would have been me going along with Dara to the Alexander James concert in Everett, only Queen of Souls leapt up, grabbed me by the throat, and demanded that I finish Chapter 21 pronto. I hear tell that it was a fine concert and I am sad to have missed it, but I really needed to put a dent in the book.
And today has been a jaunt down to the Lake Forest Park Farmer's Market, but also Meems coming over for a humongous Doctor Who marathon to get her caught up on most of Season Three. She's now down to the final three-parter, after we closed tonight on the most excellent "Blink". At the same time I did indeed finish up Chapter 21, as well as putting a serious dent in Chapter 22. This pleases me greatly, because the muse has been quite sulky as of late, and it's good to feel it waking up.
Miles since the 4th: 12.5
Miles out of Hobbiton: 2156.2
Miles out of Isengard: 363.2
Miles to Minas Tirith: 422.8
