It takes a lot to get me to write fanfic. Apparently, Tenth Doctor qualifies as "a lot". I have a Doctor plotbunny jumping up and down on large, furry feet in my head, and although I am not, repeat, not going to indulge it until I finish "The Disenchanting of Princess Cerridwen" for aerialscribe, this is not stopping me from planning. This is where you guys come in, because I need your help!

To you, Whovians both old school and new on my Friends list, I put this question:

Given that First Doctor is on record as snarkily referring to his Second and Third incarnations as a "clown" and a "dandy" respectively, what similarly pithy one-word labels do you think he'd apply to everyone on down to Tenth? The snarkier the better. Have at!

Heh, it'll be fanfic because I don't have a full Doctor Who novel in my head. I also don't have enough background on all ten Doctors to really do a proper full-length story, either.

If at some point this situation changes, perhaps I will try a formal novel, but I've got plenty of my own ideas bubbling in the meantime. ^_^

Well, we know the ones he met...

Second = clown
Third = dandy
Fifth = no insult... remember, Doc One actually /liked/ Doc Five, and said he was glad to know his future was in good hands.

I'd guess that he'd call Six a 'buffoon,' or something similar. Eight would be a 'fop.' Can't think of ones for Four, Seven, Nine or Ten offhand. :)

Yeah, but that's just the scriptwriter trying to make the current Doctor look better the first Doctor trying to be an optimist that his future won't entirely be a waste of time.

Part of this, I suspect, will be One being snarky even when he means well. From what I've seen of First Doctor, he's kinda like that. ;)

Thanks! It hasn't been too long since I last saw First Doctor, so he's still pretty clear in my head; we'd been watching the classic episodes on KBTC for a while before they fizzled out again in the middle of Fourth.

"Lunatic" comes to mind. 10 does run around like a madman half the time. "Schoolboy" or "Slightly Later Than Mid-Life" crisis, perhaps.

"Sexy Beast": Har! No, no, we want words First Doctor would use for Tenth, not words we would use. ;)

But I like "schoolboy"! solarbird suggested "self-pitying lout" further up the thread, "self-pitying schoolboy" might be a great combination of both of these.
