A Great Big Giggle!

I found this post up on the OKP today, from a person who'd just gone to her very first GBS show--and who, in the middle of using her digital camera to take a video snippet of the B'ys doing "Donkey Riding", had Alan swipe her camera and keep filming during the song! The look on Séan's face as he's looking over at Alan out of the corner of his eye, singing all the while, is great. What a way for a GBS concert newbie to have her first show start off!

I guess if you're not familiar with a band's general policy about things like that, the first reaction would be "Oh no!"

I've heard of some people taking the cameras, breaking them, etc.

Yeah, there'd be an element of "oh no" there, for sure. Though fortunately, the GBS lads don't do things like that! ^_^

well, the b'ys Official Policy has been - so far, anyway - "take all the stills you want, but no audio or video". with the advent of digital cameras that do video and stills, of course people are doing it regardless of the band's Official Policy {raises guilty hand}. however, since Alan a) kept filming and b) returned the camera - as opposed to say, swiping the camera, pointing it at a bare wall, and returning it AFTER the show - perhaps that policy might be getting another look. hopefully it won't devolve into the more common band policy of "no cameras".

One can hope! And heh, clearly Alan was in a good mood at the time. ;) And the signs that group was holding were also fabulous, so maybe that's what encouraged him! Florida up to Chicago is quite some distance to hit a show!

Where did this "made of awesome" phrase come from? I thought it was just cadhla waxing lyrical, but now you're using it and you probably don't even know who cadhla is (though she knows who GBS is)... is it a GBSism I haven't grokked yet, or...?

I do actually know who cadhla is, as it happens; I met her in a line at a GBS show a few years back. I was singing "Consequence Free" at the time with ssha and mamishka, and she turned and said "It's a filk convention!" She may or may not remember that. ;)

As for the phrase, I believe I got it from kathrynt.

the only time Bob's *ever* done anything for me was (i think) around about the time of "Turn" being released when Bob had that super-short haircut and the goatee. I thought the combination made him rather yummy looking. The string mop on his head now has to go.

I'm not normally a Bob ogler myself, but every so often he whips out that big sweet smile, and I gotta admit, it's awfully pretty.

Also, he plays every instrument in the world. Which is automatic extra points towards making Anna swoon. ^_^

I saw it! Mum and I were around ten-fifteen feet from the stage. Like, three or four people in front of us at any given time. We were dead center (so we wouldn't have to fight over Alan Side v Sean Side) and the camera girl was between Alan and Murray.
