... but I've had to do a bit of a Friends list cleanup tonight, folks. Between my writing and staying off of my LJ when I'm at work, I am just not keeping up with my Friends list well anymore. So I've had to drop a lot of your all's journals as well as several of the communities and feeds I'd been watching. I assure you--it ain't nothin' personal. I just have too much to read and not enough time in which to read it. I have bookmarked everybody I dropped off my Friends list, so that I can still come and check your journals periodically!

Please don't feel obligated to keep me on your own Friends lists; I won't feel bad if you drop me too. But if you'd like to still stick around, by all means, please do so and be welcome! And thanks for reading. :)

i'm a big fan of the "Default view" for a minimal friendslist view, and then a few other groups for when i have more time. (for instance, i have a group for all my "snark" lj communities.)

Nice icon -- have you ever been here (http://ceallaighgirl.smugmug.com/gallery/1506498/6/72277265)? Hee hee hee. It's in Victoria, BC.

How do you get a default view set up? I've never been able to figure it out.

go to "edit custom friends groups" (http://www.livejournal.com/friends/editgroups.bml) and create a group named "Default View" -- note that case is important.

at that point, when you go to your default friends page without specifying a group (like "rmd.livejournal.com/friends/" in my case), you'll see the Default View group instead of any other group. note that you must be logged in for this to work.

and, of course, if you want to be able to see your whole friends list, then you need to set up a group with everyone in it, or something.

Thanks for the tip. I've never been able to figure it out either.

glad to see I am still among the living flisters. : )

Though I do understand trimming the lists down. I just skim entries most of the time and catch the highlights, because I am too damned busy dealing with RL.

Actually, what boggles my mind is that you still have nearly 200 people on your flist *after* redecorating. o.o
