And just because I am not quite done with the Great Big Squee yet, and because OKP girls were asking me to post pics of this, I'm going to post these links here too! These are scans of the get well card that auntmonkey (all praise be to her name!) got signed by the B'ys for solarbird!

I had to go get my signed copy of Sea of No Cares to compare signature squiggles. But Darrell still gets the award for best "not even remotely resembling characters in the English language" signature!

I'm assuming Darrell's is in the lower left corner? LOL Those aren't characters in any language, I don't think! :D I recognize Alan's by the partial 'Alanman' and Sean's is actually legible!

Yeah, "Sean" is almost legible, though I swear it looks like "Scam". I find it very, very amusing that my name is the only really legible thing there! And indeed, by process of elimination, that has to be Darrell in the lower left corner! ;)

I'm always amused that Alan's autograph looks like Ale. When he signed my copy of Rant & Roar he actually wrote out very legibly "Cheers Missy Al Doyle GBS". You can tell that there was no one else around asking him to sign anything and he wasn't in hurry to go anywhere else. When he signed my copy of SoNC years later it just looks like Ale.

I have yet to actually ask them for any signatures myself; the signed things I have been given have been from friends who got the signatures for me! One was a schedule from the last Bumbershoot they played in 2001, and the other was the CD. One of these days, or so goes the daydream, I'll actually be brave enough to ask them to sign something myself. *^_^*

I got Darrell to sign my copy of Sea of No....wait, that wasn't the CD. Him and Alan signed Road Rage, not SoNC. My memory is failing it seems! It was backstage at a show in Long Island in July 2001 anyway. Darrell signed "Thanks for cheering" but it reads more like "Thanks for cheesing" :s

Some friends got Sean and Darrell to sign my copy of Play for me back in '98 and Sean signed underneath the word play and wrote "this upside down. Sean xo" Silly

I'm pretty sure my days of getting things signed are over though. Be a little weird to ask one of your clients to autograph something, eh?

"Thanks for cheesing" and "this upside down"--hee! Also, yes, I could see that doing actual work for famous persons could put a bit of a crimp in one's ability to ask them for autographs. ;) Or really, having any kind of semi-regular interaction with them at all. They start turning into Real People, and then it's all weird to ask them to sign stuff!

(I may get to that point eventually with mizkit, if she keeps having ridiculously good luck with her writing career, though for right now I'm still in the 'OMIGOD I KNOW A REAL WRITER WHEE!' phase, and giggle in delight when I meet up with her and she signs stuff for me. ;) )

My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to thank them to their faces for taking the time do that! So I had to just send in an email to the greatbigsea.com site admin, asking her to please forward a heartfelt thank-you note, 'cause really, that was just incredibly cool of them indeed. :D
