This just in
Aug. 28th, 2006 02:04 pmThere are rumors, ladies and gentlemen, that
solarbird may be able to come HOME this afternoon!
She did very well on various evals this morning. The swallow test got her diet restrictions completely lifted, and she can have regular food and water now. She did very well on a cognitive eval as well, as I posted before, as well as on a kitchen test to verify that she can do light cooking for herself without burning down the house. Last I spoke with our social worker, she told me that the recommendations had been updated to "outpatient PT and 24-hour supervision", which is very promising indeed. They want her to use the side entrance to get into the house, and she will probably also need to camp out on the main floor for a few days until she's more comfortable with stairs.
Meanwhile, I have started looking up data on home care/PT specialists who are covered by our insurance, and we seem to have some options there, which is good. Anybody know anything about Visiting Nurse Services of the Northwest?
Dara says that she has also been advised by the docs to work up a plan for going home this afternoon, although this is not yet definite, and we are awaiting final confirmation on this. Should she be cleared to go home, I will be zooming out of work at lightspeed to go home and get the car and then to scamper back to Harborview to get her. I have already notified my lead that I am on standby for spousal liberation. Fortunately, things are dead quiet here at work, so it ain't like I'll be missing much.
However: if there is anyone closer to downtown who might be available to provide transport on a phone call's notice, let me know? It would be faster than me going all the way home to Kenmore and all the way back downtown again.

Date: 2006-08-29 12:03 am (UTC)In the movie Spy Game with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt, the name of the game for Mr. Redford to get Mr. Pitt out of jail, the operation name was Operation Dinner Out. This sort of applies. Anyway, Spy Game is rather interesting in my opinion. I liked Mr. Redford's character.
