No update out of me the last couple of days, but not for any particular reason past I've been really zonked when I've gotten home in the evenings, so I just haven't put it together enough to get one posted. Finally getting to a point where my higher priority has been catching up on my sleep. But! Let's have another one then.

[livejournal.com profile] solarbird's improvements are continuing. She herself has posted another status update of her own, to which I will add that she's slowly, slowly coming along on the swallow evals. One more of those should put her back on an unrestricted diet, including water. Which [livejournal.com profile] risu and I will be pushing for today if possible, on the grounds that Dara's IVs are starting to irritate the hell out of her poor arms and she can be taken off the IVs entirely if we can just get her cleared to have water. Till then, we have to get her ice chips.

I went with her as she walked up and down the hallway in the Neuro ward last night, which demonstrated to Dara that she's still sub-optimal with the balance and coordination. We happened to find a mini-staircase down around the corner, and she went up and down those stairs to test her ability to do so. That was doable for her, but hard. She is thinking that this is evidence in favor of some rigorous PT indeed, either at one of the two facilities or just handled by us at home.

The PT status is a little uncertain. There is some question as to which facility will have a bed free this week; I told the social worker that we'd prefer the Everett one since it's closer to Kenmore, but she was telling me that they may not have a bed free until Wednesday. Yesterday as well Dara told us that she'd overheard a chat in the hallway about the possibility of maybe just having to send her home until a bed is freed up. But nobody was available yesterday to give us a solid update on that, and I expect we won't get real word on it until tomorrow. I'll be following up with the social worker to see if we can get a verdict. If we have to wind up taking Dara home until a bed at a PT place is free, I may arrange to work from home on those days so that I can be with Dara.

As the medical issues diminish, this whole situation is turning into more of a "we're just hanging out here" scenario, which is almost fun, except, well, it's a hospital. I brought by the first volume of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea DVDs yesterday afternoon, and she and [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat and I watched the first two episodes and made fun of those. ;) The computer is really rather vital to stave off boredom at this point, between stuff that Dara can watch and her Internet access. Friday somebody came in and made noises at her about having to clear the computer's presence in the room, which was the first time we'd heard anything about that, but so far nobody's told her she can't have it. Here's hoping it won't be an issue for however many more days she needs to stay there.

I had to go in in the afternoon yesterday because of doing landlady stuff on Dara's behalf at MurkSouth--I had to go and do an inspection for one of the boys moving out of Unit 2. Which was quick and painless, except for the part where one of the lock fixtures on the door just up and broke as I was leaving. So today I have to go back and fix the door. Which means I can't get back to the hospital until I deal with that. Meh!

Anyway. Keep up with the good wishes and thoughts, folks! Now we're getting into the final stretch of just hanging in there till we can get Dara sprung from the hospital and into the PT place, and ideally, home again as soon as possible!

Glad to hear the progress is continuing. Good luck sorting out the PT.

I'll tell Glorfindel to come spirit both you and [livejournal.com profile] solarbird to Rivendell so that Elrond can properly take care of both of you while recovery is going on. In the mean time, I'll find replacements for your place of employment so that you won't have to worry about losing pay while staying in Rivendell. If necessary, I'll send Aragorn, Legolas, or whoever else you want to spend your time with. If it'll help with the recovery, I'll send Gandalf your way. Just give me a time you want to be gone, and I'll make it so.

Joking aside, do get better both of you.

I think it's wonderful that it's becoming more "hanging out" than "hanging in there" too :)

*hug*
