Last night I didn't get much done writing-wise, since I was still stricken by a big ol' wave of nostalgia and decided to log onto PernMUSH and say hi to folks there, as I'd done on CrystalMUSH the other night. This let me have a positively fabulous conversation with Kassima, who I fondly remember from my RP days there, and who is the biggest reason I'm still hanging onto all of my old PernMUSH logs--since she was, after all, also the typist of the NPC with whom Mehlani finally got to fly off into the sunset. ;)

I also was quite curious and wanted to see if F'hlan still has any descendants in play on the game--the answer to which is yes! F'hlan's granddaughter Lanisa is still in play and so is her son, F'hlan's great-grandson Erisan! I mean, wow. This kind of thing was not nearly so amazing over on Two Moons, where long-lived elves could easily be alive and kicking and RPing at the same place as their own great-grandkids, but when you're in a setting involving more or less vanilla humans, it's a lot more kickass.

This further drove me into resurrecting the old page I had for F'hlan and Mehlani's family tree. I think I'll keep this up for amusement value, since F'hlan does still have descendants on the game! And I had to giggle that all three of F'hlan and Melora's children, upon being retired from play, wound up as riders at Benden. F'hloran on a brown, Anra on a blue, and Mehlani on a green! And I've heard tell that another of F'hlan's children, Lanryi (Lanisa's mother), also made greenrider. That's a full half of the F'hlanspawn horde on dragons! I don't know the fates of Rylan, Fahlina, or Brihlana, but I know he had an NPC son named Harlan as well, and now I'm tempted to up and decide that he eventually grew up and became H'lan and Impressed a bronze, just to give my F'hlan a full complement of fighting dragonriding children.

Anyway, I had a great time yakking with Kassima, and was thrilled to discover that she and I have continued to have a lot of the same tastes, especially in reading. She's also even writing, and we compared notes on doing Nanowrimo back in 2003. She loves [livejournal.com profile] rachelcaine and [livejournal.com profile] jimbutcher and, and, AND told me, once I gushed at her about how insanely proud I am of [livejournal.com profile] mizkit, that she also loved Urban Shaman and Thunderbird Falls! :D

And oh, [livejournal.com profile] agrimony? Since you were Anra's last typist, it may amuse you to know that Kassi was also making jokes about throwing E'rian, the NPC brother of Mehlani's NPC weyrmate K'star, at Anra. Because, or so Kassi asserted, F'hlan could never have too many Harrison Ford clones chasing his daughters.

Aside from that delightful yakking, I also had a very pleasant chat with the typist of Hamari, whose character is an elderly Harper Master and who was absolutely amazed that I had a very early appearance of Hamari in a log from clear back in 1998. This, folks, is why I hang onto my old RP logs--just because it makes me smile when players go "holy crap! You have logs with my characters in them?!" And L'han paged me as well, and we had an amusing chat about how he was originally going to be Ph'lan, except that would have been very confusing with F'hlan running around the game. And Noemie tried to recruit me for Igen. Which would have been funny, considering that the aforementioned F'hlan-descendants are actually at Igen. But I explained that I couldn't actually come back to the game.

Hee. That was very pleasant, though, and I'm delighted I did that. Even if I can't take up MUSHing again, it's nice to be able to wander back to old stomping grounds (or in this case, aheh, old Hatching Grounds), and say hi to people. I'm very pleased NC is still alive and kicking.

So a few years ago, SouCon jumped forward in time (because another Interval was upon them), and at the time I heard that NC was a little slow in figuring out what to do. Did they just keep going with the same timeline? Are they now unlinked?

Cl'rek, L'mis, and the rest are probably dead by now, either way.

If you ever post them, please let me know. I'm not sure which old logs I have. I definitely am missing the logs that I made whilst I was in college (the bulk of the Cl'rek years). And now that I look at it, I only seem to have kept a handful of L'mis logs. I have a lot of post-PernMUSH RP logs (SouCon and others).

Nothing with Cl'rek, but a handful with L'mis. It took me back, and I was so bored at work today that I read through some other logs from elseMU* (involving S'tin (http://www.silvertree.org/~steve/ustin/index.html) on Forgotten Weyrs, to be exact; one of my favorites: a hypochondriac son of healers who rides a green).

Gods I hope they get out of Interval. It's driving me batshit.

I really liked the limited interplay between NC and SC when they were both in the same timeline. I had an extended family of alts from both continents who were contemporaries. I wasn't MUSHing anymore by the time the interval came, so I never really decided whatever happened to Kenla, Nirek, L'mis, et al.

Kaylira (daughter), and K'ylon - grandson.

But I also have played Jaeleka there for ten or so years. She's Kalren and Jazmin's kid. Still alive and kicking, just less played. Benden born, bred and brat!

I've never done Pern games, but I can tell you that it certainly is interesting to see generations grow up, become PCs, and have their own children. On one game, I've seen the children of my first two characters from years ago now grow up and become PCs and be played, and are now old enough to look at having children of their own. It is interesting to feel like you've started a little legacy and had a lasting impact on a virtual world that way. :)

I keep hearing his name as Flan. Oh, the lame puns, the lame puns! As a child, was he teased by bullying classmates? (Cowardy cowardy custard!) I have to stop now. Right now.

...but she has to actually not like them, rather than just be saying that to get a copy of US. :)
