Tropical! Storm! FABIO!

CNN.com reports that the third tropical storm of the Atlantic 2006 storm season, Chris, is now alive and kicking. I can't help but giggle at this, having once had a housemate by that very name. ;) NOAA is of course tracking the storm, and so far there seems to be no sign of it making hurricane. So far the Atlantic storm season, it must be noted, has been pretty mild. Here's hoping it stays that way.

Meanwhile, over in the Pacific, the storm season has been rather livelier. We are up to F and G already on the storm names list--and, *snorfle*, the F storm for the Pacific this year is Fabio. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, Tropical Storm FABIO. This makes me laugh and laugh and laugh and wonder whether TS Fabio is trying to throw smoldering glances over at TS Gilma, also currently active, while showing off his long flowing blond hair and manly shirtless chest.

In movie news, I am intrigued to note that Heath Ledger is going to be the new Joker for the next Batman flick. Actually, I'm more pleased just to know in general that there will indeed be a sequel to Batman Begins, which I did like quite a bit--and I'm sure the Christian Bale fangirls out there on my Friends list will agree! But it should be interesting to see what sort of Joker Ledger will make. Particularly since I think I have yet to actually see him act in anything, and that includes Brokeback Mountain.

As of today, I have hit the one-month mark for Faerie Blood being at Bantam. One week from today will be the one month mark for Lament. If I can hold out a couple more weeks with no sign of a rejection letter, I'll at least pass the minimum benchmark set by Tor!

I think that Heath Ledger's best celebrity skill is mainly just looking good. Seems like a very bizarre choice for joker, though. I think "intriguing" best describes my thoughts on it as well.

Having seen next to nothing of Mr. Ledger's acting, I can't say one way or another what kind of a Joker he'll make. But I liked Batman Begins, so hey, I'm willing to give a sequel a shot!

Oh. Not a bad idea. I usually avoid the romance section with all those pictures. They're kind of embarrassing! But you know, curiosity may draw me there soon . . . hahha

Heath Ledger is not a bad actor. I recently watched 10 Things I Hate About You (which admittedly is kind of old, but still a good movie) and he was convincing enough. But you know, when it really comes down to it, it doesn't matter because he's so good-looking. So then, seeing him play the joker will be interesting because I can't imagine that his good-looking-ness will be a huge feature of that role (and may very well be non-existent). I've seen him in other things, but my mind is completely blank on what they were.

The only two things I know Ledger was in off the top of my head were Brokeback Mountain and A Knight's Tale, neither of which I've seen. And yeah, I can't imagine that his looks will be a factor in his Joker portrayal, though I could actually kind of see it in a way--if in that timeline he started off as a pretty boy type. Certainly being put through the traumatic incident that turns your hair green and your skin white would make any previously vain pretty boy flip right the hell out! ;)

And hrmm. We surely can't be getting a Joker origin story in this new flick, because we know that as of the end of Batman Begins, the Joker already exists.

My husband LOVES A Knight's Tale, and in fact bought the DVD. I have to admit, if you can ignore the silly souctrack and the utter lack of historical accuracy, it becomes a pretty amusing comedy. ;)

Yay to ariaflame! CrystalMUSH wins! We may, BTW, be planning an 'olf friends come home' weekend over there sometime, to lure people like you back to reminisce and have fun for a day. :)

*snicker* Ghost Kevlan wouldn't be scary at all, unless you find Elvis-lookin' Crystal Singers wandering around the JPF shaking their legs and singing love songs scary. One could also argue that Ghost Tance wouldn't be scary either, as you'd just have to fork over a bowl of peach ice cream to appease him! ;)

I've been known to cough up a fic or two about my characters, too. I've got a few scattered all over my logs archive! And one could also arguably call some of the log intros and outros I've got drabbles. ;)

One thing's for sure, as far as I'm concerned Mr. Ledger'll have to work really hard to top the Joker in the Batman/Superman/Justice League/etc. collection of cartoons. Because damn, Mark Hamill does such a fabulous job voicing the Joker. :D So deliciously psychotic!

Jack Nicholson was all right in the first of the Michael Keaton Batman flicks, but after having seen Hamill's job with the animated Joker, Nicholson just wasn't psychotic enough! Which I admit is a wacky thing to say about the dude who was in The Shining, but hey. ;)
