Today I have written like a crazy writing thing, and lo, it is Good. But the last few days in general have also been pretty fabulous.

Today [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I went out for our Sunday trip to the farmers' market, and that's always fun, even if this time around they didn't have any raspberries. I find myself wondering whether this is due to the recent heat wave or what--because there were just no raspberries at any of the booths at all, which was sudden and surprising. But we did get other tasty produce and trudged back up the hill in mutual pleasant weariness to get home. Dara wanted me to carry her. I told her no.

I think the best thing about today, though, aside from the writing, was that it actually rained. Boy howdy did we need that. It made our walk down to the market all cool and pleasant, since we got out in the break between showers. So we had clouds, but also spots of deep blue sky, and a temperature that was absolutely soothing.

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] mamishka came over, and we had tasty lunch at the Third Place Commons, and we also had a marathon of fifth season Dead Zone episodes. This season's been... shaky. There have been a couple of halfway decent episodes so far, but the others have all just been kind of "meh". Which is a shame, because the first couple of seasons were just so good! Even a return appearance of the redheaded reporter chick from the initial seasons couldn't really inject a spark back into things, sadly enough. It was cool to see her, but I don't think we'll get her back as a recurring character. And while I can't yet say that the show has jumped the shark, I can kinda see the fins on the horizon.

Fortunately there are plenty of other nifty things to watch--such as oh, say, Doctor Who. As I already posted, we've finally gotten caught up watching the finale. (To wit, waah!) And it won't be too much longer before we have new Lost, and new BSG, and hopefully shiny new kickass episodes of the Dresden Files (please oh please don't let that suck).

And I have purchased another round of kitty drugs for my kitty, who seems to be taking very well to her new diet of wet food as well as to Dara's ever so fabulously clever suggestion that her food bowl get regularly washed. This has made Polly a lot more likely to eat all of her food, and it's seeming finally to put some weight back on her creaky old lady kitty bones. She's even had some very spry and agile periods in the last couple of weeks where she charges around the house like a kitten. Yay!

August is on the horizon, and with it, the one-month mark of Faerie Blood and Lament getting to Bantam. Here's hoping my babies hang in there a while longer. I need the time to work on the other stuff!
