Assorted random remarks
Jun. 15th, 2006 03:42 pmThings are kind of quiet at the moment and I'm between projects, so here's a drive-by posting!
I have totally become hooked on the Sudoku game I have in RealArcade, the last one I was able to get before the end of my contract. It's got ten levels of difficulty to it. On all the levels you get a certain set of starting numbers placed for you on the board, but on the lower eight levels, you get "hint" numbers on all the other squares that tell you what numbers can possibly be placed in those squares. You don't get the hint numbers on the top two levels--so naturally those are the levels driving me nuts. I'm all "MUST! ARRANGE! NUMBERS!" Hee. ^_^
(I'm also halfway considering whether I want to get a GamePass for RealArcade--just because I have to admit, there are quite a few games there that I have fun playing. But I haven't quite brought myself to commit to that. I may just buy the games I know I like and go with that!)
Although I had resolved to hold off reading Windfall until the weekend, I could not resist! So I chugged through about 40 pages of it this morning on the bus and will likely chug through more on the way home.
I'm seeing that my average mileage per day is going to drop a bit. Assuming that I get off the bus at the bottom of the hill today, my projected tally is going to be about 3.3 miles, which is a noticeable drop since I've been doing anywhere between 4 and 4.5 miles a day for a while now. But I'm also now going to be getting home earlier as well now that I'm back on an earlier schedule, so I can resume evening treadmill--which will let me make up the difference. And it's higher exertion than just walking, which should also do nice things to my metabolism.
Last but not least, thanks to
spazzkat, I now know where the nearest source of diet Mountain Dew is in relation to the Times building. So I can resume my obligatory morning caffeine fix! (There's soda to be had on our floor, but it doesn't involve diet Dew, and the 50-cents-a-pop area where snackies are sold seems to be kind of random about selection, so!)
Thursday morning miles: 1.9
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1129.3
Miles out of Rivendell: 671.3
Miles out of Lothlórien: 209.3
Miles to Rauros Falls: 179.7
