Last day on my contract
Jun. 13th, 2006 10:41 amIt's the very last day on my contract at Real--and a quiet day it is, as I will be spending most of my last few hours here polishing up the How to Test What I've Been Testing document. Not a bad way to go out.
On the way in I put another 100-plus-page dent in
rachelcaine's Chill Factor, having been reminded of the siren call of Uber-Hot David the Djinn, thanks to
technosage! And there's a whole lot of "well, I didn't see that coming" goodness all throughout the first chunk of this book. More comments to come as I finish it off!
The new iPod performed splendidly yesterday, though I have yet to figure out exactly how to get that 20-hour playtime out of it that Apple's iPod battery page claims I should be able to get. Looks like their tests are based on playing stuff continuously through a playlist without interruption, with the backlight and EQ off, and on factory default settings. I wonder if I need to get cleverer with my playlists; I tend to jump around more than that. But at least the iPod didn't run out of battery power before I got home, and that was the important part. ^_^
I have, by the way, named the iPod Allegretto. Most of my other electronic devices have names; I figured it should have one too. (Though, granted, I have yet to actually name my cell phone. Heh.)
Tonight I will have to start adjusting my bedtime to account for returning to an earlier work schedule, since I begin work at the Times tomorrow! Here's hoping I can still get in my nightly 500 words--I'm within 9,000 words of finishing off Lament of the Dove, and it's almost time to start hassling the beta readers again. I got a new one in off the OKP as well, which will be neat, as that'll be a brand new fresh pair of eyes upon the words!
Monday evening miles: 2.15
Tuesday morning miles: 1.6
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1121.2
Miles out of Rivendell: 663.2
Miles out of Lothlórien: 201.2
Miles to Rauros Falls: 187.8
