Rest of the weekend

Aside from the whole having to take the cat to the vet thing, the weekend was pretty nice and pretty quiet. We didn't wind up going to see X3 after all, but there was writing, and the finishing of Elizabeth Lowell's Always Time to Die (which, I was pleased to note, was a better read than her previous outing, The Color of Death), and the starting of Eucalyptus.
Yesterday afternoon,
solarbird and I walked down for our usual run through the Lake Forest Park Town Center Farmer's Market, where we got tasty things and ran other errands. It was rather pleasing to have one of the vendors actually ask me where Dara was, as I got into the market area first since we'd split up to run errands. We are becoming Known Regulars. ^_^
Meanwhile, we found uber-cheap jump drives in the 75% off clearance bin at Rite Aid--thirteen bucks for 512MB of storage. Not bad for a tiny thing that looks like it ought to be dispensing Tic Tacs. We named them Fallberry and Sunbright, after the two Preservers that used to hang around the Willowholt on Two Moons MUSH; it seemed appropriate for things which will be preserving data. With data-preserving in mind, I also did a full backup of my laptop yesterday onto our USB drive, hopefully thereby earning me karmic insurance against having my laptop destroyed by a meteor for another month or so.
Yesterday evening we finally watched the Doctor Who episode "The Idiot's Lantern", and although it was perhaps the weakest of the Tennant episodes, this by no means implies that I think it sucked, because it didn't! I love, love, loved the Doctor With Elvis Hair, and Rose in the pink poodle skirt. :D And Tennant demonstrates that he's just as good as Eccleston at demonstrating exactly how much danger to Rose makes the Doctor get thermonuclear-level pissed off. And three words: "King of Belgium". HEE!
Last but not least, I think I am perhaps within ten thousand more words of finishing Lament of the Dove. Go me!
Friday evening miles: 2.4
Saturday miles: 1.2
Sunday miles: 2.2
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1092.95
Miles out of Rivendell: 634.95
Miles out of Lothlórien: 172.95
Miles to Rauros Falls: 216.05
