Warm and lazy Saturday afternoon
May. 13th, 2006 03:18 pmTime to change the journal layout around here again--the one I was using just wasn't working for me, once I realized that it was rather screwed up in IE. I mean, yeah, I'm using Firefox, but it annoys me that that particular layout was messing up my journal in the other browser I'm most likely to use if I don't have Firefox available. So. I'm trying out Bloggish now, which is the layout LJ pulled in from Six Apart, and I'm using the Minimalist theme. This is the closest I can get to what I actually want out of my journal--nothing too terribly complex. I'll get around to tweaking the actual stylesheet and layout later. There are some things I want to do to it; I don't like that the time is down along the bottom with the various and sundry links on an entry, rather than up with the date or at least just below the title. Also, I'll want to do something with the tags.
But I'll get to that later, 'cause right now I need to do this post and then get to some writing now that I've also gotten out for a bit of fresh air and sunshine.
Also, I must note that I do like me some Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony, now that I have listened to the whole thing again and reminded myself of what it sounds like. I really like the first movement, Moderato, as well as the finale, Allegro Non Troppo--which is the thing we played when I was in school. Lots of big bold Russian-sounding flourishes all throughout this thing. It's pretty neat. And I'm grooving heavily on what I've heard so far of the Vivaldi mandolin concertos--which so far sound about as far away from Shostakovich as you can get, light and delicate and erudite. They remind me a little of the bits of Boccherini and Corelli I've heard in the Master and Commander soundtrack.
Friday evening miles: 2.4
Saturday miles: 2.0
Miles out of Hobbiton: 989.6
Miles out of Rivendell: 531.6
Miles out of Lothlórien: 69.6
Miles to Rauros Falls: 319.4
