So I usually take my synthroid right after I get up in the morning, which is 7:30am on a work day. Today I have noticed that I feel abnormally twitchy and nervous--in fact, this feels very similar to how I felt last time I ramped up my synthroid dosage.

And it occurred to me--I have just come back from a four-day mini-vacation in which I regularly got up two to two and a half hours later than normal. I still took my synthroid after getting up, it's just that this was later than what happens on my regular work schedule. It has further occurred to me that I get up later on the weekends as well, which affects when I take my synthroid, and I have already noticed that general overall system performance seems to alter on the weekends as well.

What really got me thinking about this, too, is that I have noticed with the tracking of my weight that I've been doing that I have pretty regular slight drops of weight on the weekends and then I go back up once the week gets underway. It's not a huge discrepancy, but it is an interesting little blip in the pattern, and I really do find myself wondering whether a difference of a couple of hours as to when I take my synthroid in the morning really can make that noticeable of a difference.

I've just called my endoc to ask for her advice on this (and emphasized that it was a non-urgent matter and that she or her nurse could call me back at their convenience), so it'll be interesting to see whether I have noticed something that I need to do anything about. Those of you out there with thyroid issues, have you had any similar experiences? Inquiring minds!

I'd been told to just always take it as close to waking as possible.

Often what I'll do, not necessarily by design but just the way I am, is wake at my "normal" waking time, take the T4, then go back to sleep for a couple of hours if I've stayed up until oh-gods-thirty... but I hadn't really noticed any pattern...

You could just keep your medicine by your bed and wake up just enough to take it, then go back to sleep. That might not be so bad, if you get to stay in bed. I don't know about you, but I have such a regular waking schedule during the week, that on weekends, I wake up at that time anyway (even with my alarm off), realise it is a weekend, then go back to sleep, and I can usually still fall all the way asleep again.
