Snurched from filkertom: If you use Bausch & Lomb's Re-Nu with Moisture Loc contact lens liquid, you'd better stop. Shipping on it is being halted to investigate a possible link to a rare fungal infection that can cause blindness. Yip!

I'm still hoping that the Ciba Clear Care stuff will show up on the shelves again soon! I've been trying to give it a few more days since finding out about what the deal was with that last week, to give it time for the stuff to make it here.

It was kind of funny, I bumped into a couple in the QFC over the weekend who were looking for the stuff as well!

You know, my local QFC doesn't stock Complete, which is funny, because most of the people I know actually use that stuff. Weird.

I don't normally think of looking for that stuff at a grocery, though. I wonder if that's a factor. My first place to look is always the nearest actual pharmacy.

Well, I usually hit the grocery store first because it is closest. The pharmacy I go to is a ma & pa sorta place right next to the grocery store, and they can special order it for me, but it ends up being ridiculously expensive.

Fair 'nuff--and the groceries do seem to be getting larger pharmacy sections these days, at least the larger and fancier ones. More of a one-stop-shopping kind of deal.

Yeah, although QFC doesn't have an actual pharmacy. It's the only grocery store in my town anyway. I get my prescription drugs through mail order anyway (way cheaper to buy three months at a time!), but for other stuff, everybody goes to Manhattan Drug. Their selection is still pretty limited anyway (at least they're willing to order stuff though, which is nice).

I use SoloCare Aqua and have been for the last 12 years or so but they changed it not too long ago and I don't like it much anymore. The solution dries sticky. I sometimes spill a bit when refilling my case and it's leaving my bathroom countertop all gunky. It's probably whatever extra moisture stuff they put in it but I don't like it. Not sure what brand to go with now.

Huh, I wasn't familiar with that product! *comes back from Googling* I see it's another Ciba one. I haven't tried it, though; I wear disposables and I change pairs every month, so the only real need I've had to deal with is the cleaning required since my lenses build up stuff on 'em.

I've had the same left (toric) lens for 3 years now. Not sure how long I've had the right one, maybe three years as well. I had my last left lens for about 4 years and my optomotrist said that there really wasn't much build-up on it, which was cool.

Neat. :) I wound up switching to disposables when I found my eyes twitching a lot, and my optometrist thought I should switch in order to allow my eyes to get more oxygen. It seemed to help. Plus, I liked having much lighter lenses on my eyes in general.

Yeah, I just got contact lenses at the beginning of the year. I rarely wear them. They stocked me up with several boxes of Moisture Loc. Luckily, I've only used it half a dozen times.

Have you tried Amo UltraCare? Supposedly it's an alternative...

That's the stuff I bought several weeks ago when I couldn't find Ciba Clear Care. I don't like it quite as much as the Clear Care stuff, actually--it doesn't seem to do quite as good a job on my lenses, though it was an adequate substitute.

But that stuff has been just as hard to find around here lately, or so I was told by the guy at the Bartell Drugs I spoke with the other day. I'm hoping one product or the other will start showing up again on local shelves some time soon.
