Murkworks.net power outage circa 1:05pm Pacific time

Around 1:05pm or so Pacific time, folks, it seems that the Murkworks suffered a power outage. This took down our server core, and is why we currently do not have MUSH, web, or mail services up and running right now. No ETA yet on when we'll be back online. Neither solarbird nor I are at home right now, but spazzkat has instructions on how to bring the servers back online when the power is restored.

Watch this space for further details, and if you need to wing me an email about anything, do it to my gmail address.

ETA 1:55pm: We're back! Paul reports that a truck hit a utility pole at the bottom of the hill and that Dara drove by it on her way out. Yowza. Paul also says there is a possibility that we may go down again (if they're working on restoring the pole), but if that happens we'll be down until Dara gets home. Watch this space for further updates.

Ah, that's the traffic jam I was stuck in for an hour... Oh, well, it's not like our Eastern Star chapter was honoring their Junior Past Matron and Past Patron tonight or anything... *grrrrr*

We ran into some of it, too. But (as the passenger), it was pretty cool to be able to peer out at the fat wire that crossed the street being held up by the truck-with-cherry-picker with 1/3 of a utility pole (complete with streetlight) dangling in midair from the other end of the cable.

My traffic woes weren't so bad, being on Metro. The nice Star lady who was driving up from Lake City to take us to Snohomish, on the other hand....

Yow. Yeah. Dara says she was caught in that mess for something on the order of two hours. It was long gone by the time I was on my way home last night--though I did see some utility-type vehicles parked around the place where the pole had been hit, as the 522 drove past that spot.
