So I finally admitted to myself that a lot of the unanswered LJ comment backlog I had waiting for my attention was probably best deleted--especially on several threads that haven't had any attention in MONTHS. *blush* The impression I have from a lot of my fellow LJers is that my assiduous attempts to answer every single LJ comment I get are more than is really necessary... and yet, I felt a bit guilty anyway nuking a lot of these old comments out of my email!

But only a little guilty. I mean, I'm writing books and stuff. ;) And I'm TRYING to keep up, honest, folks! And hopefully clearing out LJ comments I know I'm never going to answer will clean things up a bit and let me answer more of the Actual Email.

Don't feel guilty, I do the same thing. You get to a certain point where it just becomes unnecessary to answer just because the topic is so old! :-)

Besides...LJ comments are transitory...they are really usually only relevant for a short period of time.

I feel like I need to answer every comment, but it's because of a compulsion.

Sometimes I manage to NOT reply, and I feel like I've accomplished something against my brain. shhhh don't tell it.

Eh, I see LJ more as a diary than a discussion forum -- I'll comment on a comment if it's important or I'm at a loss for other things to do, but otherwise it's ancient history the moment I shut down the computer for the night. Feel free to mass-delete any comment from me, guilt free! I know where to corner you if I absolutely need a reply to something :-)
