Here are various bits of chord data as scarfed from the OKP. Credit goes to the following posters from that board: colomon for "Tishialuk Girls Set", Guitar Goddess for "The Old Polina", grover for "The Mermaid", bodhranman and CapoKidd for two different attempts at "Tickle Cove Pond", [livejournal.com profile] branwyn32 for "John Barbour", and again bodhranman, for a snippet of chords for "Charlie Horse". Brace for a swath of chord data here, folks!

colomon posted links to transcriptions of the three parts of "Tishialuk Girls Set". They may not actually match up note for note with how GBS plays them, but that's okay--fudge as you see fit: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. And grover posted this link to a transcription of "The Mermaid" (it's a Microsoft Word .doc file, folks).

Now here are some writeups that are quoted out of various posts.

The Old Polina
Capo 1 for key of Eb

Chorus:
For the (D)wind was on her quarter, the (G)engine's working free,
There's (A)not another whaler that (A)sails the (G)Arctic (D)sea,
Can (D)beat the Old Polina, you (G)need not try my sons,
We (A)challenged all both (G)great and small from (A)Dundee (G)to St.
(D)John's.

All the verses are the same as the chorus. The basic chord pattern goes like
this (each chord letter gets four beats, except when two are hyphenated they
each get two beats, and when you see AG it means that A and G each get one
beat):

D G A AG-D
D G A-G AG-D

From bodhranman:

Tickle Cove Pond

(*!) --> i dont know what this chord is called, but its pretty much the D
chord that is already being played, stay with me here, all you do is take
your index finger that is normally playing the g string second fret, and
move it up one string to the d string second fret, keeping your other
fingers in d chord formation

(G) In cuttin and haulin' in (D) frost and in snow
we're (D) up against (*!) troubles that (C) few people (D) know
its (G) only by courage and (D) patience and grit
and (D) eatin plain (*!) food that we (D) keep ourselves (G) fit
the (EMinor) hard and the (BMinor) easy we (EMinor) take as they (Bminor)
come
and (Aminor) when ponds freeze over we (D) shorten our runs
to (G) hurry my haulin with (D) spring coming on
i near (D) lost me a (*!) mare out on (D) tickle cove (G) pond.
(then the chorus is the same thing)

(D) Lay (G) Hold william oldford lay (D) hold william white
lay (D) hold of the (*!) cordage and (C) pull all your (D) might lay
(G) hold of the bowline and (D) pull all ya can' and (D) give me a (*!) lift
with poor (D) kit on the (G) pond

From CapoKidd:

Tickle Cove Pond

In (G)cuttin and haulin' in (D) frost and in snow (Dsus4)
we're (Cadd9) up against troubles that (D) few people know (Dsus4)
its (G) only by courage and (D) patience and grit
and (Cadd9)eatin plain food that we (D) keep ourselves (G) fit
the (Em) hard and the (Bm) easy we (Em) take as they (Bm) come
and (C) when ponds freeze over we (C/D)shorten our (D)runs (Dsus4)
to (G) hurry my haulin with (D) spring coming on
I near (Cadd9) lost me a mare out on (D) tickle cove (G) pond.
(then the chorus is the same thing)

(D) Lay (G) Hold william oldford lay (D) hold william white
lay (D) hold of the (Cadd9) cordage and pull all your (D) might
(G)lay hold of the bowline and (D) pull all ya can'
and (Cadd9) give me a lift with poor (D) kit on the (G) pond.

(This one needs to be tweaked to figure out where all the changes go, I'm quoting directly off [livejournal.com profile] branwyn32's post here, and the changes didn't line up...)

John Barbour
capo on 3

G What ails you my daughter dear // G your eyes are so dim
G have you had any sore sickness // G or yet been sleeping with a man
G I have not had any sore sickness // G but I know what's ailing me

G Am C D
the king he calls his sailors all
G D G
by one by two by three
G C
John Barbour was the first he called
G C
but the last came was he
G Am C D
when he came a trippin down
G D G
he was clothed in all in white
G C
his hair were like the roses red
G C
and his teeth were ivory brite
G Am C D
he paid their wages with a smile
G D G
when John Barbour he did see
G C
if i was a woman if I were a man
G C
then bedfellows we would be
G Am C D
will you marry my daughter Jane
G D G
and take her by the hand
G C
will you come and dine with me
G C
take charge of all my land
G Am C D
I will marry your daughter Jane
G D G
and I'll take her by the hand
G C
G C
I will come and dine with you
G C
but to hell with all your lands
G Am C D
if you can give her one gold piece
G D G
then I can give her three
G C
for I am bold John Barbour
G C
and I plow the raging sea
G C
I plow the raging sea
G C
I plow the raging sea

And again, back to bodhranman:

charlie horse - very paddy murphy-ish, except this one is in G
so pretty simple and same through the whole thing
G - C - G
G - A - D
G - C - G
G - CD - G

*squeaks* Thank you for posting this. I had the greatest time just now playing The Mermaid. I also somewhat sped through The Old Polina, there are no words for how much I heart it.
