I forgot to mention that over the weekend I picked up three paperbacks:
rachelcaine's Chill Factor, Sharon Shinn's Mystic and Rider, and Marjorie Kellogg's Dragon Quartet: Volume II. I'd actually read the first of the Kellogg series a long time ago and Book 2 has been languishing on my To Read shelf for ages--but I liked the first one well enough that I'm hopeful that the series as a whole will be fun. I'm hoping to read it straight through. And of course I'm really looking forward to Chill Factor. Mmm, David! Mmm, Lewis! :D
Meanwhile, work is actually fairly engaging as we have some big projects to work on, and after a slight internal re-org on our team, I've got more of a sense of focus around here. It's good to have stuff to do, even if it's not the stuff for which I was originally hired.
It's a bit on the chilly and sprinkly side this morning--blustery as March sometimes gets around here. Just enough to let us know spring hasn't really kicked into high gear quite yet.
And this weekend, we JAM! I'm really looking forward to that, too. :D Especially seeing if I can get everybody else who shows up to play "Captain Kidd" with me, now that I think I've more or less got the gist of that song down thanks to chords given me by
fredpdx. The one bit where it's giving me a little trouble is that held-out bit in the last verse; I can't quite figure out how many beats that's drawn out. But I've got the lyrics and the strum pattern down, more or less. I have to change its key, but this is not unusual for me in GBS ditties that come in the flavor of F. I just have to remove the capo.
