A Good Year release date?

Hey Russell fen on my Friends list--is the release date on A Good Year really April 7th?! Last I'd heard it wasn't coming out until October. But I'm seeing several sites like imdb.com and countingdown.com and comingsoon.net saying April 7th. Are we really just a little over a month until a shiny new Russell flick? Especially a romantic comedy in which there are high odds of him looking all cute and disheveled and maybe even smiling, a combination which is likely to take out my knees within fifty feet of the theater?

The man can't sneak up on me like this, I need time to prepare.

(And mm, he looked good tonight on the Oscars, brief though his appearance was. Mm, the hair!)

ETA: boxer_ferret confirms the October release. Darn. ;)

I really hope it IS April 7th, but I heard October. (All of this is really sad because I actualy have a RC fan web site, lol). In this case, I will be glad to be wrong.

Yeah, that's why I put out the call--I'd heard October too, but that was several weeks ago at this point, as I recall.

Just the hint of it being sooner has my RC signal doing the K-Mart blue light special. It's BIG! lol.

I can't find any solid confirmation on either of the two main Russell sites I look at... and I can't find any sign of an official site for the movie, which is the main thing that makes me wonder if we have a while to go yet. I'd think that if we were really only just over a month until its release, there'd be a site up!

It's going to be a fall release. Someone posted the news about that recently at hsx.com.

If it were April, there'd have to be a trailer by now so it's not possible at this point.

Okay, so the October thing I'd heard was the accurate data, then. Annoying that imdb.com and countingdown.com and comingsoon.net haven't been properly updated to reflect that!

Very good point about a trailer, too, I hadn't even thought of that. We should have been seeing trailers by now if the movie was really due out that soon.

Fox can be bad at promoting but not that bad. Heh. And apparently they must be thinking of awards potential again and no one wants to get burned by releasing too early like what happened with Cinderella Man. I didn't see this as much of an Oscar-bait kind of film, being a comedy and such. But then I was reminded of Sideways, which also involved the whole wine thing.. so you never know.

I dunno, the plot does seem awfully fluffy and frothy to be Oscar bait, especially in light of all the films they had up for consideration this year. But then, we did have a bunch of weighty contenders this year. It'd be funny if next year was full of fluff and froth. ;)

I am also sad that Cinderella Man didn't win anything. Sniff.

Also fun Russell flicks! I've got eight or nine Russell flicks at this point, but I think M&C has become my favorite. But L.A. Confidential is, I must say, a damn fine film.

Well there are more at home (M&C and Gladiator off the top of my head), but the only two I physically own are the two I mentioned.

Gods I love LAC. It's got Guy Pearce in it too, another droolworthy actor.
